My Creative Live! 24 bit sound card hasn't worked since I reinstalled XP, even with the drivers found on Creative's website installed. I finally got mad and uninstalled the driver and everything. Now the sound card doesn't show up in the hardware list and I can't install drivers for it. Can anyone help me?

In Device Manager right click and then select hardware changes. Do you see it then?

It should work if you downloaded and installed the correct drivers.

It still doesn't show up, and I have installed the drivers from the disk and the drivers from the internet. Neither work. Do you think my sound card is fried?

Offline
Could be. I don't know why it would get fried by doing what you did tho. Oh well. Good thing sound cards aren't that expensive.

if you have another PC try putting the sound card in it and see if it works

I don't. Im thinking about just getting a new one. 30 bucks sounds better than a whole day spent trying to figure it out.

nickb827 if you are still having trouble with sound card, try this, down load latest drivers for your card on the desktop (do not install yet). uninstall all the drivers you have for your card at the moment when done shut down pc. remove sound card from pci slot and reboot system, when windows has loaded fully shut down pc again. reinstall your pci card into a different pci slot if possible, then reboot pc, windows should ask you for the cd that came with the card or for you to install manually, you need to install manually, goto browse , desktop and locate your driver and install. hope this helps.
