I believe this has been gone over a couple times. Why don't you try searching. Since I'm not in a bad mood I'll give you a hint, http://www.terrasoftsolutions.com/suppo … _guide.pdf.

ill just tell him. type startx

A. That is incorrect
B. By telling him you ruin the fun. But I suppose I could give you the answer: "install_text" and "install_ps3_480i" (They do the same thing).

everyone always says 'just search' but i think i have searched for 20 different things and only found this by randomly going through each post. how ever thats probably the fault of the people who name there questions without the most important keywords.
its hard to find 'ydl 6 with sdtv ' because people right 'i need help installing ydl' which really is vague and is hard to know whether it will actually help. but thanks nemesis for the info, hopefully i am not the first case of someone bricking their ps3 as i bricked my ipod touch when everyone says its impossible (and trust me i did
no one could come up with a way to fix it)

erm i don't think its even remotely possible to brick your ps3 installing the wrong graphic mode of ydl 6.0, i set the resoution wrong once, but it was easy to fix, ![]()

you can basically play around with ur ps3 ydl installation....it is highly rarely or impossible that u going to mess it up..just know the basic thing...anything happens...press the start untill u hear a few beep beep and it will restart to game os....have fun...

Hmmm you have to do alot of looking up things before you just go right ahead and do it, for example you could of just gone on the WIKI it tells you there
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_Dog_Linux and go down to the releases section and it tells you the commands which one has to put in for it to install and run on SDTV's as they were designed for HDTV's.

Best just doing the second command that NEMESIS said, "install_ps3_480i". For the benefit of others here who may need it just change the 480i to the resolution that you want. Although my TV is a 1080i resolution I chose 720p because I found that YDL at 1080i flickered and was a strain on my eyes.

^^^ It is possible once installed to changed the settings back to 480i.
