Just for the record, this still in fact works, no patch has been issued to solve the problem as of yet.

not sure if u mean the current patch or not chase, but just a couple days ago, I had to download a patch for COD4 and I could still change the color of my name and everything. Apparently, their patch has no effect on the names so far
