hey sorry if this has been brought up before, but i was thinking, using ps3 proxy, cant sum1 encrypt a game with .pkg extension so we can transfer it on the ps3 harddisk and play it??? or i just saw a homebrew game "lunavader", cant we use the other os feature to boot up a copied game? like, to say RFOM jus add whatever files are needed for it 2 be recognised as an other os, and then booted up??? lets forget about storing the whole game on harddisk, just make a bluray copy with necessary files added and boot it as an other os??
sorry if ideas r stupid, but m rily hopeful the ps3 gets hacked soon.
thanks

Lunavader is written in Linux, without the use of the RSX anyway...
For encryption, you would need to know the KEY to use...

yeah needing the KEY would make it diffficult, but knowing the hackers out there, nothing is impossible for them.
I really wish it gets hacked using whichever method, just as long it works.
keeping my fingers crossed.

Each program you download from on-line is signed with your console's key. There is standard encryption with games, they're all the same security KEY for that game, in that region. So, all the games of Oblivion in Region "A" would have the same key, Region "B" not the same key as "A", but all the same key in "B", and so on, SOMETHING to that effect.
Each console has it's own key, which us used when you download a game from PS3 ONline, and install it. Once extracted and installed, that game won't run on anyone else's console but yours. XB360 is the same... Anyhow, it's too eatly to tell what is going to happen in the PS3 scene...

yea they're are a lot of really skilled hackers out there, but none of us are security specialists that can crack encryption like that, sorry. they're just not here

Well, I don't know if any are working. Doubt it. But, I was just saying, I read it somewhere.

i hope somebody can find any exploit

Yes, yes. 2 Exploits , that I know of, have been released. None of them boot backups yet. We'll just have to wait.

well i wouldnt call them exploits, theyre really just bugs. the real "exploits" are yet to come and are actually "power-granting", whereas bugs are not.

^^^^ True.

Lol, I wish I worked at Sony.

i think sony will hack the ps3 themselves (under a different name of course) after a few years, maybe to boost sales of bluray burners and blank blurays. and that might also boost sales of ps3.....later

money is made with games, NOT the hardware.
Offline
Somewhat true, but here is still money in Hardware.
Offline
Not right now, their taking a loss on the hardware.

Offline
ya i meant maybe after 2 years, but the ps3 WILL be hacked
Offline
I seriously doubt it, considering how hard sony is cracking down on mods and hacks. in europe, hardly any store sells ANY ps2 modchips anymore cause sony took down several stores and sued a lot of others. it will be hacked, but it will certainly not be sony who "leak" the needed information.
