uh, sony is probably going to let the ps3 run homebrew, if not, then you know it will run it eventually

Sure, but more console sales at a 240.00 LOSS (now 340.00), with some kind of backup running system, will then kill software sales, and hurt them even more.  Look how slow games are churning out now?  IF they know any kind of method is made to play backups, they will lose the console war with Microsoft, because no one will buy games.  THey'll buy the console, making sony take a 300.00 hit, and copy the games, thus Sony will lose their ass with the PS3...

PS2 still sells strong, as does the PSP, but then again, so do Nintendo's hand-helds...  PS3 is their anchor right now, piracy would kill them in their infancy...

I am VERY sure that Sony made sure no backups are playing within the 1st two years...  Within the first year FOR SURE...  They would lose so much money otherwise...

Anyway as calo said in the first page of this topic, ps3 is homebrew-capable through the otheros. Up until now I know of only 2 homebrew applications, SAK and a rendering demo using the cell.

sony trys to do whats best for their Fans. Hombrew Ability would Be Awsome if sony decided to do it. maybe their will be a HomeBrew Icon on next firmware or even on the PS4. sony keeps fighting us with the homebrew. if sony were to give into their fans they'd sell a hell of alot more Gaming Systems. More Money for them More Pleasure For Us. We Both !!!! WIN !!!!.

Ya, lua would be pretty cool. a simple language that I could play around with.
Although there is python-PS3 for the otheros. It´s a script language also. alot more complicated but also alot more powerful. Did anyone check out the Pubble game for the other os? it was pretty neat but only for 2 players.

If you don't no that Linux is way over your head.  Trust me.  If you don't have Linux experience, you have to be one hell of a fast learner.  I didn't know anything about Linux other than it was free, all the other stuff with it was free, they support making free software for everyone, and it was more secure than Windows.  I thought about getting it for my computer.  Then I got a PS3, got it for my PS3 and then I was forced to use it on my computer when it refused to install Windows.  I know if it happened to any of my friends, they would have been screwed cause they can't learn like I can.Trust me   if you had to ask that   stop right now.  You aren't going to use Linux.
