Crap, so they found a way to make the update force you to upgrade your firmware. They had better not do that with resistance. How did they do that?

Ok so they did do that with resistance.

Does anyone have both resistance and F1? If so would they check to see if you could use F1 to load resistance despite the game requiring an update after the online update?

I can confirm the R:FOM trick works with Rainbow Six Vegas!

Edit: RainbowSix Vegas also has a "Save and Quit" option, don't know if it can be used like RFOM and F1 tho.. perhaps future games can use this.

I also noticed something else. I used the R:FOM swap trick on this game. It preloads some data (like a lot of PS3 games) to the HDD (seen under Game Data Utility). After playing I had a look in there and I saw that the Rainbow Six data is named "Resistance: Fall of Man" LOL. The ICON is the propper Vegas icon but the background picture is that of RFOM. I found this funny Shows you how extensive this swap trick actually is.

I need some help please? I had an NCTS/USA PS3 with 1.31 firmware installed... I have NCTS/USA Resistance game and tricked NCTS/USA Fear to work. I played the game just fine.

Went to the store and bought NCTS/USA Splinter Cell and I get this message saying that "game experience might change, blah blah..." and the screen goes black. I have waited for over 15 mins and nothing.

So I read that Formula 1 has a trick too... so I purchased NCTS/USA Formula 1... had to updated to 1.32 via the Formula 1 disc so it would run and tried the swap method to play Splinter again and I get the SAME ISSUE ABOVE - BLACK SCREEN!

Does anyone know if this only work if either your PS3 is a PAL system or Splinter needs to be PAL? I have not seen ANYWHERE on then net people that have ALL (system/games) NCTS and got this to work.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you

hi there guys, i have Pal Ps3 fwm 1.51.
been trying to boot Sega Rally by using the RFOM and ... nothing.
I also have the Virtua Fighter 5 game .. does anyone knows if this game also have any kind of way to bypass the firmware upgrade ?

Sometimes RFOM dont work with some games, others have had more luck with F1, pls see if you can get that and update us. I dont think vf5 has the option. You could try the tif exploit (it allows you to swap ORIGINALS ONLY!) F1 or Tiff are your only other options ate the minute.

If your in the uk and happy to send me the game i'll check for you, im on 1.32 and havent had any issues with new games BUT have not tried the latest games.

Yep.

just tried the tif method and .. what u know .. nothing!
meaning ..
- i put RFOM on Ps3 and put the cursor on top of it and see the game is there.
- Put pendrive with PHOTOS/tif inside and the icon on right top screen appears.
- go back to the game, make start .. and it DOES start ...even with the darn tif inside.

Ps3 FW 1.51 Pal.

Ho well . think im gonna upgrade to 1.82 to play Sega Rally.
