I got a 57" HDTV waiting for a PS3 to play on it. Just waiting for a PS3 price drop.

good luck with that, more like a price increase.

let me get this straight... you have a 57 inch HDTV and you`re worried about the price of a PS3? The bluray player alone is worth the price.

Wat about that thing i heard (probabl like some crap) abou lag on when playin games
lag? There is no such thing as lag on the ps3 nor online or offline... atleast I have never seen any.

I think we'd all agree that the PS3 is a little pricey, but the more expensive the better.

aw man, tht not fair
can you take a pic of the slots of your tv? If it supports component I think you might be able to play 420p...I dunno. ![]()

Chelsea, you seem to have only a composite cable port witch is the standard cable that the PS3 brings, youl only be able to play with standard resolution. Its still fun though.

Um the reason for having a ps3 and not a ps2 lol
Offline
I believe it has to be a component cable(should have red green and blue) I am not sure is progressive scan works over the standard yellow cable or not but it definately on a s video cable
Offline
chelsea - let me make it clear for you.
You are out of luck. Your tv is outdated and won't play anything above 480p.
Until you upgrade the tv it's not going to change.
no port or adaptor is going to change your resolution.
Hopefully this cleared everything.

Sorry I think I misunderstood.... the only ports on the back of tv(that I know) that support higher than standard resolution is the hd compenent port which has five spots two red one green one blue and one white..(if you include sound) or HDMI which looks like a wider mini usb port. SVideo cable (looks like a keyboard plug) supports progressive scan which was used by the ps2 even to propduce a clearer image before HD TVs where relesed so some SD TVs support it. As far as I know though there is no SVideo cable(at work so hard to research etc) for the ps3 and the standard component cable which is the 3 plugs (red white and yellow) does not support HD and I am not sure about progressive scan

Lol you are screwed is better answer lol

what was i missing from the higher resolution
You have mostly two ways for High definition. There is the Component AV cable for the ps3 and the HDMI cable ports.I prefer the Component cable because its cheaper and has more resolutions support. This is how the ports look like.
This is the component cable and port I have in my HDTV.I put a lamp next to my tv so the pic appears clearer. lol
Connected component AV cable.
