Update: Geohot explains it…
As some people in the comments called, it’s an RCO file edit, just like RCO edits on the PSP (almost same format too). RCO files are resource files for VSH plugins, live in the dev_flash, and aren’t signed. To edit them on your system, patch your hypervisor to allow encrypted access to the partition(flash on old systems, hd on new), and mod ps3pf_storage. dev_flash is just a FAT partition, mount it in Linux and change what you’d like.

I could care less about a way to play copied games since BluRay disk are to much cost wise. Emulators and PS2 backwards compat is all I want.
bluray blanks cost a £1 lol. same price as a decent dvd9..
A pack of 15 single layer BD disk is $42 in the US, and they are cheap quality ones, at least in my opinion they are.

Not all PS3′s have that feature, my 80GB PS3 can’t play PS2 games, but a 40GB PS3 can.
Sony has made an “emulator” (more of an interpreter) for PS2 on any PS3 they just haven’t implemented it yet, probably waiting for the end of the PS2
It would be cool if it acted like pops on the psp and if there was proper CFW but it’s still far off without even a POC on a ps3 cfw. Hopefully no iso loader though… but there’s always someone willing to implement it so that people will use their file and they will be remembered forever *sigh*

I just checked it since I thought the same thing. they seem to be at the same angle when I moved the red text over the white text. I won’t say 100% confirmed yet, but it looks somewhat real.
I’ve just tested the image with Photoshop, and the facts are:
The text is in the exact same angle.
It’s the same Font.

Here is my analysis of the above image. I took the image into Photoshop CS4 and rotated it 1 Degree Clock Wise and laid the Grid over it for reference. This reveals that the text is NOT off path with the other texts and I have zoomed in to make it easier to visualize that the red text plays a trick on the eyes and only APPEARS to be crooked to the naked eye. When the Grid is laid on top of the image the illusion disappears. It is my opinion that this image has not been altered and that the text in question is genuine. that RCOs has just a little protection (it’s mounted as ro).

not unsigned code its the ps3s rco files that store theme data and they are unsigned just like in the psp. So that means the will be no iso loader.

I think custom backgrounds, and custome dynamic backgrounds would be a awesome start. I would love to have my XMB and have fish swimming around in the backgrownd or something relaxing of that nature.

Well, i researched this photo a bit, and the “hello geohot!” text had a little box around it. Barely seeable, if you have a laptop, bend your screen forward and you’ll see that the area around the text is a bit different. So obviously fake :S
