Dragon Age Origins Review

To tell you the truth I didn’t really like Dragon Age Origins, but I put a shit load of my time into it… The game felt so linear in it’s options of what to do next like I was just reading a choose your own adventure novel, no open world feel. You’re always being pushed along to the next thing THEY want you to do and you HAVE to talk to soooo many fucking people… blah blah blah blah… At first it was interesting in that it added depth to the story and characters but I to start skipping all that bull shit dialog and boy am I glad I did, I must have saved myself 20 hours of not listening to inane chit chat.

I’m actualy a bit disapointed. I feel that the homebrew and hacking community have actualy given up on cracking the Fort Nox of the video game industry. The’ve simply looked at it and said “it just can’t be done”

The problem is it can be done: Idont know how, but it canbe done.

I remember when this all started there where constant updates. Now there is only updates when sony releases a new FW, and even been reduced to reviews. Where is the Assassins creed 2 review?

Im just saying What happened to all the ultra agressive hackers. Shoot man i remeber the PSP once got hacked in less than an hour.
Let’s doo this people IT CAN BE DONE!!!

alex ur right, but now the only thing i fear is ppl cheating with hacks in video games such as MW2 !! if it does get hacked, it should still remain a closed source console due to video games, but allow more customizations to XMB & allow ONLY ps2 & 1 ISO’s PLUS emulaters.

i dnt want ppl cheating in online ps3 games !

people always cheat: there is allways a way to cheat.

In many games that don’t have user made or company made cheats people still find a way to cheat. I mean a lot of games have glitches, for example if you get stuck in a corner and randomly start smashing buttons you may pass through the wall and end up inside a compound that is supposed to be guarded, so now you found a glitch wich you can exploit to beat that specific team.

There is allways a way to cheat, like it or not.

I just went to ps3news an it totally proved my point.

They found glitches in MW2 and Assassins Creed 2.

Enough said? I think so.

No NOT enough said. Ur not listening to what I’m saying!! A simple glitch can be patched! Take MW2 for example. Ppl can make them selves invisible/ invinsible /fly. There’s nothing anyone can really do about that. When I said cheat, I ment cheating with hacks which cannot be patched.

I am listening, and i understand.

What im trying to say is that there will allways be cheaters, be it through glitches, gamesharks, or hacking. the best way around it is, and i cant believe im saying this, but take the XBOX rout. I don’t mean banning everyone who mods or hacks their system
(That’s just stupid) i mean banning anyone cought cheating online. See this is the sort of thin banning should be reserved for. Not for banning 2million players because they have hacked their system in some way or other. on top of that some people got banned for no reason. others because they unnowingly bought a moded system. so microsoft is screwing themselvs.

I think banning should be reserved specifically for cheaters.

Yea exactly. Cheaters who cheat with hacks is mostly on pc. But yea your right. Ppl should ONLY be banned for cheating not for hacking their system becuase once you buy the system it is yours to do what ever you please with and if ppl like cfw or anything of that matter they should be left alone cause it’s legally their choice. And yea, again there will alwas be cheaters but cheaters with hacks r like hard core cheaters and that’s worse then some camping noob tuber in MW2. Plus being banned for a mod or hack to the system in general ruins the companies reputation and possibly even sales. Apple doesn’t make a fuss out of people jailbreaking iPod because the people who are really loosong money are the ppl who make apps because the apps get cracked. Apple doesn’t do much.

And then we have Sony, who makes a big deal out of everything such as HARMLESS ORP!

In fact, Sony and apple aren’t rivels right? I don’t know why sony doesn’t get together wry apple and discuss and official remote play with iPod touch and iPhone. Both companies would benefit from it and just think about how It would make xbox look hahaha!!

I just doesn’t make any sence blocking remote play. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!
But did you guys see how they actually started ussing the idea to stream media to their phones. real nice right. the hackers do all the work and sony takes all the credit.

Just not good enough cheers

Dragon Age: Origins is a surprisingly traditional open-air RPG. Some people are less inclined to enjoy this type of game than others. Most gamers will look at it, pass it off as ‘boring’, and never look back. As an avid player of RPGs, I feel Dragon Age is probably the best RPG of its sort that I’ve played (seriously, go play Oblivion. THAT game was fucking terrible).

Personally, I love this game.

Also, at those making comments about the PS3 hacking scene giving up, you have to consider the fact that the only direct tie between this site and the PS3 hacking scene is hearsay and forum posts. You also have to consider that there are some very serious protections to the PS3, and cracking such protections is going to take time. A LOT of it. There’s a HUGE difference here between the PSP and PS3, and I assure you there are a lot more people working on this and with greater resolve than I’m sure you realize.

i had an idea the other day, i know there is now a system file editor. so why not use it and install the modified fw to “other os”. or am i missing something?

Comment by alex

i thought the same thing bro, but i got shot down real quick. plus the other os only uses part of the prossesor not all of it.
plus the new slims don’t have the other OS feature

yea. the install os doesnt let you touch the SDK and the graphics card which is what would be needed to hack this

I saw a comment about Fallout 3, and I must say… I enjoyed Oblivion far more than Fallout 3… That “wasteland” feel, that “everything’s-fucked-up-for-good” scenery, just gives me a bad feeling. I don’t feel refreshed playing it, I just wanted to do the quests and get the hell outta there.
I enjoy a nice town, a forest to wander on, things like that, and Fallout 3 gave me, through the entirety of the game, a “Oh, look. More wasteland.” reaction.
I’m looking forward to trying Dragon Age, but I don’t think it’s going to top Bioware’s Mass Effect or KoTOR.

hello …

all hacks would be most welcome, as long as they don’t allow pirated PS3 games to be run on the system.

I have a PS3 with BC, my worst nightmare remains Zone compatibility, so maybe i’ll try the Swapdisc thingy 1 day.

Dragon Age … hummm .. not my type!

Glitches – hehe … they will always come back like pokemon

CFW – well why?

I want MP over LAN, i want MKV direct playback, i want NTFS or other support on external HDD, i want to confirm if SSD is supported.

I want linux to access a good part of the GFX & @ least let Linux games be playable on it …

well that’s a lot of i want, but not a single i will do! …. sorry me have no competence, just a poor customer wanting more from his system without voiding its warranty.

cheers!

You people are insane. Hacking the ps3 is just plain easy in dragons age was easy and I don’t hack online games. I don’t really know why people think hacking a silly game such as this is hard you people should try it yourself it’s pretty easy… If you have an active imagination Im pretty sure you will figure it out. It just isn’t the reviewer’s type of game. Bioware games are more focused on dialog, characters, and story than they are on gameplay. Think of them as the Metal Gears of RPGs. The gameplay may be a bit boring and not very innovative, but the story is amazing.

I do agree about the linearity aspect of the review though. Bioware said they were making the game as a “spiritual sequel” to Baldur’s Gate (one of their older series, and the best games ever made), which were fairly non-linear. I don’t know why they made this game have so few areas to just wander around in and explore, which was one of the most entertaining aspects of BG.

the gameplay is fantastic, atleast while playing on pc. Its the best part of the game, the story and characters just make it that much better.

i bought dragon age when it first came out the game seems like it would be really good, i have tried to play it around 20 times, the farthest i got was getting the dog and thats only about 5 minutes into the game. the talking is enough to shut the game off isntantly. then my ps3 crashed and i lost my game data and had to start over again which i wasnt far anyways but the talking is enough to not play it. i keep thinking man theres some fun in this game deep within but i dont have the fucking patience to listen to this gay storyline to get to it. everytime i turn the game on i turn it off, sometimes i turn it on and say this game is gay and turn it off before i even start.
