I vaguely remember (so maybe I’m wrong) some PSP SFO editor or unpacker or something… Something that essentially paved the way for complete PSP hackage… Anyway, this isn’t the PSP obviously or else it’d be hacked by now… This is Hellcat, RichDevX, and SilverSpring’s PlayStation 3 System File Editor. And who knows — maybe it’ll get shit crackin’ too.
PS3 SFO Editor won’t serve the average Joe any real purpose, not yet anyway… But should these low-level dudes end up successful in their quest to hack the unhackable, then that’s a different story.

It’s deffinetly hackable. There’s many people out there who are capable of hacking this. It’s just that they can care less because they don’t have a use for ps3. That’s my take on the subject. If there is over 6 billion people on the planet, the odds of the ps3 being hacked is next to impossible.

I do have a passion for that. I’m 16 and a half. I got my psp when I was 12 and everyday checked psp-hacks.com just to see what’s new. I remember seeing the release where ur able to have an image with ur background wave. I always wanted to do that stuff till I finAlly got CFW when I was 15. Since then, that’s all I really like to do. Hack my psp for fun. Not make homebrew apps, just use them.
Now, I really want to learn and I don’t care how long it takes. I just want to lend a hand in the ps3 hacking community as mch as I can but I can’t unless I learn.

Learning to program c++ you can do in 48 hrs, learning the APIs however you can spend the rest of your life, making APIs for a system that is made not to be hacked… I gues it will take several life times to do that?
I’d go for learning netcat, wireshark and the like, and every time you download something from PSN Store you should save that data that comes in on your network, on the day you find the keys, you have hacked the PS3.

problem sony got now is that when they add features to the firmware they run the risk of cocking up loadsa machines…everything they do has to work with all the games and different ps3 models that are already out! just look what happened with firmware 3.00 mucking up uncharted. think about it…sony would love ingame chat, in game music and dozens of other features that people have been asking for and i bet theyve got top guys slaving away on it as we speak. all these extra features mean good press for them. they dont leave them out to piss everyone off…its because they cant do it! or at least because they cant do it without screwing up something else in the process. lol.
also they have to keep the firmware down to a decent size. theres only limited amount of memory to run it.. they actually manage to shrink the latest firmware considerably…im pretty sure i heard that uncharted 2 now has significantly better textures because of this size reduction. id rather have better graphics in all my games than the ability to listen to music…i can use my stereo or mp3 player for that! personally i dont see the point…games companies spends £100,000s on ingame music, scripting it to match the game, to add atmosphere.. and then people want to listen to britney spears over their hard work.lol.
I’m sorry man, but I just don’t see how an in-game feature can mess with a game. The ps3 is a fukin super computer. That means it’s capable of outstanding multi tasking like your pc. When messaging ppl in games, it doesn’t do anything to the game itself. ( in fact other way around. Certain games make te ingame xmb lagg )
I don’t see why can’t have music running in the background of gameplay. … It’s not like your mp3’s touch the blu Ray game.
I love my PS3, its an awesome gaming machine and I can’t wait for GOW3 and FF13 or 14(I lost track of which number their up to) but right now I mainly use it as a media center because I can use PS3 media server to watch stuff straight from my computer on my tv without having my pc hooked up to the tv. but there are still alot of things that sony could easily add to make the system so much better, like ingame music that actually works with anygame and not just one, passwords for the logins, save states would be cool but might be hard for a console, customizable XMB(move things around or make your own columes or just hide some of them) and there are more. But the problem is sony won’t add any of the features we want until after the console is hacked and the hackers add them because thats what sony does just look at the psp and pspGO.

i do have an idea though, however, that u can first test with any pc.. is it possible to create a homebrew hack on the psp that will launch anything u tell the psp to launch when its connected to something, for example an immage? picture this: (hard to explain kinda) picture this:

U could figure out wat kind of code the ps3 is running by opening up the remote play modules in the psp flash. The psp has to kno wat Code the ps3 is running in order connect to the playstation right?? I thnk this idea could work and I think it is a high possibility.
I posted this exact idea about an hour and a half ago and the thing never showed up.
what i was thinking is inject code to the psp remote play features so when you connect to the ps3 to set it up it eithr extracts some code form the ps3 or tricks the ps3 into running code off of the psp by making it think its harmless original psp code.
i dont think it would work by normal plug into usb because the psp, although recognised as a psp, the information reads the same as any other usb devise, but in remoteplay setup its a whole nother ballgame.

I love no names trying to be me lmfao just got off work and rilly had to laff at the fagot hoo added the last 2 posts but this prog here does nuthing but give u the ability to decrypt the the sfo files so you can actauly read them lol it took a lot of work for me to get it to work and a lot more to edit the sfo files but like I said im on a new project and it seems I can crash the ps3 with a altered mp4 …(basicly it seems when it freezes it starts to look for the next bit of what should be a movie…isnted of finding movie code its finding a shitlode of garbage and crashes and when this happens it kicks ya back to the xml but u can’t do shit untill a reboot (back swich) and it takes forever (5-10) to boot back up after another reboot it seems to run fine but its slow untill then) so im not to shure if im going to replace the garbage code with some basic executebuls but what ever im tyerd and kinda pissed off so stay high fuckers and keep at er

i think you may be on to something but not with ps1, because the ps1 is in all the systems probably means that they have updates along with the fw.
Now if you talk ps2 maybe because i have the 60gb original ntsc model and there where some exploits found to play emulators and ps2 backups from usb that soposedly don’t work after fw 2.4 im on FW2.6 and it works fine which leads me to believe sony has neglected to update the ps2 software and hardware in the new FW.
Theres something to think about for ya.
once we get the ps2 hardware moddels opened through some sort of ps2 explit that lets us read into flash (unless ps2 flash is partitioned seperatly) then we can figure out how the ps3 system works.
Or maybe even vice versa because the ps3 with ps2 emulation has to be a software setting and there must be some shared code between the main system and the ps2 emulator to run the emulator.

high guy is a genious i just realized that Sony may have become so cheap that they started using a free ( or at least i think its free) OS to code their system and since Sony has allways been so bad ass no one would ever supect this and they would probably think sony used some super advanced OS that cant be cracked.
If sony used Unix or Lynux to code the ps3 and high guy is on the right ttrack this will probably be alot simpler than any of us could have immagined.

Yo little bro whats up. listen, from what i saw using ir shell just now i see that most of the homebrew is compiled to an eboot.pbp file.
if its a large program with lots of extra features then its usualy acopanied by some sort of aditional files like .prx, .ini, or .conf
I think the main program is the Eboot.pbp so that the psp recognises it as a psp file, and all the other files just tell the homebrew eboot.pbp what to do and how to act.
i think thats how it works but don’t take my word for it. like ive said many times befor i have no programing skills . But if someone else could confirm it to help Dave out i would greatly apreciate it.

Wat I’m thinking if doing is downgrading my psp to a lower firmware, probably the firmware that has the tiff exploit, and try to write my own hello world as practice. I would also probably look at the already created .bin and see how it works. The only reason y I DONT want to learn how to do this shit is becuase I do t wan a brick my playstation. Fuk my psp, I have pandora :D

Can’t u just open a ps1 game on the computer or study the eboot of it and see how it works? Maybe try writing code TO the ps1 game so tha playstation THINKS it’s what it’s suppose to do. Ps1 games works on EVERY model playstation… So it may b good to start there. Highguy, is that possible?

While I’m sure everyone that shows up at this site, comes here just to hope and find a hack to play games for free. The truth of the matter is that to hack and write homebrews and hello worlds you actually need to have more technical knowledge then to be asking such questions as can I copy the code from psp hacks, homebrews, hello worlds and other very trivial questions that are quite easy to understand in common sense terms. Just because the menu’s look the same does not mean the operating system is the same. The hard drive was checked in the past, it’s encrypted. Modifiying things on the drive might not work if they are digitally signed by sony, altering things might make it so it doesn’t run as the check will not pass.
Perhaps someone or some group will find an exploit or a bug in the firmware that would allow custom code to run on the system. First they would need to find a loophole or bug in the system however from there it’s only a start. Once they code a successful “helloworld” meaning Hello World literally in that it’s a test of custom code fully running on the system. Here’s some videos you might want to watch to pass the time. No offense but I doubt based on your comments you would be able to code something successfully to run on a system at this point. Maybe someday. if you’re learning C++, keep at it, as most games are coded using it. I think ps3 games use it as well since I recall reading that Uncharted 2 was coded in C.

Well yes, tht may be true, but the ps1 game also saves game data to the ps3 internal ps1 mem card. Wat if u try to make the save data currupted And CREATE an exploit as opposed to finding one. Then, u can take the same string that launches the ps1 game ( tha string u find by opening the ps1 game ) and use it to launch your own code !

you know honestly I think the ps3 Hack of hacks is right around the corner… I know people are getting frustrated but the software has already been dumped. I’ve seen the code to the ps3 firmwares… I don’t understand most of it. But a theory I have is, now that it’s dumped… Maybe the guy that started dumping em first should try to hit up the M33 or GENS guys… if you can dump the firmware… and find away to trick the ps3 into thinking you have a firmware update.. you could theoretically installs homebrew.. CFW ect.. through a proxy.. I’m sure game exploits are being looked into as well. But since firmwares can be dumped and games can be dumped all the files have been decrypted… Right now it’s just picking up the pieces… Right now I’ve seen someone fiddle with the coding in the firmware update, and get one to still boot and install the firmware.. and I’ve seen them change things and get one not to boot… we’re close… patience is a virtue…
Ok ,i know i said i was done, but i found something intersting that reminded me of something High Guy posted abot hacking through JTag.
If you look in ps3news and go to page 10-14 (i cant remember exactly which page) there is a post about the PS3 JTag being located and maped by deamonhades or something like that.
and in a newer post about a ps3 debug unit that still has JTag headers, and they seem to be active.
