Update: My bad… Forgot the README.txt in the Win32 archive. It’s included now, and for those who have already downloaded it, see here.
Here you go — Open Remote Play for both the Mac and Windows. And not only that — Dashhacker has released the source code. So if you’re a developer and wish to contribute: visit the Open Remote Play Google Code project page. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. And remember, you read it here first. Boom, posted.
Open Remote Play v1.1; things you should know:
- ORP v1.1 introduces game launching, video scaling (1.5x & 2x size), full screen mode, and many bug fixes.
- The Mac version, awesome, absolutely awesome. Little bit of key lag… Not much.
- Windows, well some of you may have issues, some may not… In our case we’ve tested XP, it seems to work fine with some minor issues. Vista, not so much — seems to bail on something… Maybe someone can test and report their experiences below or in the forums. Windows 7 (64bit) users — it works. You may need to resize the Window (drag the bottom right corner) to see the “Save”, “Delete”, and “Cancel” options when editing your ORP profile.
What’s planned? Check this –
- Add joystick support with a default SIXAXIS/DS3 button map.
- Add proper audio+video synchronization (added a quick hack for now).
- Add ability to set/manage buffering and bit-rate profiles.
- Add error messages to the player instead of just bailing silently.
- Implement power-on support.
- Clean-up and document API.

Ahhh, the osx link is dead!
oops, good catch, thanks. works now.
Why do i need a psp with remote play if im supposed to be able to do remote play with my computer?
-Jake
Ok, So I guess I am a little confused. I thought this would allow me to play my ps3 from my laptop but in the xploit it starts referring to the PSP. Can someone clear this up please.
Thanks
This allows you to access the remote play service on your PC. Since you can’t play PS3 games on your PSP via remote play, same rules apply.
This is awesome! Crashes every once in a while on XP and there is no resize option yet. But overall it’s great!!!
ctrl+d
I tried that and still nothing. ctrl+f and ctrl+q do nothing too.
just got the windows version and it seems very good for a first release. sure there is audio/video issues, random crashes and my pc doesnt seem to like the full screen/size change commands. also it lacks direct keyboard support. but i didnt expect perfection on first release. i expected proof of concept and thats what i got.
keep up the good work dashhacker
btw before someone flames me when i say direct keyboard support i mean being able to type using the keyboard not move things with the keyboard.
I hear ya, made the same mistake just out of habit.
Yeah i know lol. Im not suprised it doesnt have it since remote play doesnt actually have keyboard input. Would be very difficult to implement. I cant even think of a way to proceed with that. Let alone program it.
I have my ps3 wireless, I wonder if thats the problem that is stoping me from getting it launched.
This Newfoundlander THANKS YOU VERY MUCH, have a GREAT MAY 24th, and don’t forget to drink a 2,4.
This is awesome… I love it! the fact that I can now access my videos (all be it they are out of sync atm) from my office is just great… oh and I can check out my room with the ps eye!
just got it working on vista had to run in xp mode+adminshut off the DEP and i cant do the 3 ctrl+ comands
What do you mean by “shut off the DEP”?
So when we can play the ISO s from hdd ?? Stuff about weather or mess with friends is nice, but we want to play some games.
Its called a shop. You buy them.
Go to sleep my friend, in our country minimal salary is 200 $.
then dont buy something that you cant pay for the upkeep on. u dont buy a car if u cant pay for gas do you? well u prolly do
I’m seriously tired of people like you, xavier.
i cant get full screen on vista. any ideas? the three ctrl+ dont work
thanks
lol @ xavier
I can’t get it to work on Windows XP 32-bit; after I click Launch!, the window loads and then closes. PS3 is running 2.60. Is there a known issue with wireless??
hey ive got the same problem here mine on vista 32bit any ideas guys?
same here vista 32bit, ps3 is 2.50 window just opens then closes, ive loaded the key and the dump from my psp and still no luck.
I don’t know about the support for all Os, but on Win 7 64 bit (at least), Remote play seems to work fine. Though Remote start does not (had to start with PSP or regular method from XMB), but then normal functionality.
On the glitch side of things (not a big deal), but I can open Aquatopia on my PSP remote play. However, on the ORP it causes a major glitch where the TVs “Remote Play In Progress” message flashes really fast to black screen and back. The only way out was to hard reset the PS3.
Hope this helps.
:)
Sorry to double post, but I forgot. Also none of the CTRL commands work for me.
CTRL + D
CTRL + F
CTRL + Q
in my opinion this is bullshit
Then don’t use it and move on.
second that
wow, still no real hacks though huh. well, glad i didn’t bother with these $400 blu-ray blayers. excuse me while i go enjoy my 360 in 1080p *walks away whistling*
Troll detected.
piece of shit 3 owner detected. don’t get mad little buddy, just keep telling yourself its the best console out there. ROFLMAO
I own both a 360 and PS3, both get their equal share of playtime. Both consoles suck in their own way.
PS3 wipes its ass with the 360. Keep paying for your box subscription loser.
gladly.
360 system – $200
120gb HD – $ 75
usenet service and 50 pack of dvd-dl discs $80
flashing my own drive – free
total amount invested $355
spending less money than some 9 year old kids parents did on the biggest waste of money console of the decade – priceless
ps3 system – $400
500gb internal hd that isn’t proprietary- $100
online fee – free
Bitorrent service and a ps3 media server for every movie I ever wanted – free
total amount invested $500
Not having to dick around with dvds – priceless
Guys, its just a game system, u either have one or the other, get over it. And if you have a 360 why the hell are you on PS3-HACKS?
Can’t we all just get along. We’re all gamers are we not? If you frag us, do we not die? I have my preference, as does everyone. Why all this hatred among our own kind?
:-p
thats a quote i shall use good sir ” We’re all gamers are we not? If you frag us, do we not die?”
its just a shame I dont have a psp :(
wats the cirlce and start keys?
Do you need a PS3 for this to work, because all i need is a way to make ad hoc go online instead so i can play people in MHF2 with out them being near me, pls make a hack that mods a psp so the ad hoc connects to the internet and then through the internet to other psps.
go to psp-hacks then and not ps3-hacks. they already have this
Sorry for being a noob, but how do I connect over the internet? I am using 192.168.0.100 range on my Lan, but what would I use for wan?
Anybody?
This is great guys, good job dashhacker I am very proud of you. I hope to see more from you soon.. one great release. More power to the people, forget the scene.
Thanks man… Couldn’t agree more. Source code wants to be free :)
Relly good program for a first version (on windows). I used it on vista 64 bit and i could not see any sync problem whit the sound comperd to the video. I did not get into any problem more then that full sceen problem and that I have to resize the edit windows. I runed it in xp sp2 compability mode and as admin.
Tried it on Vista 64, XP SP2, and no luck on either. MAde sure to try running as admin in Vista, and even tried XP SP2 compatibility mode with Vista. So far all that happens is it sits there then closes the window and does nothing. Am I not doing something right here?
Works under Vista Ultimate 64bit for me, no XP compatibility/admin changes required. Same problem with CTRL- keys not working.
Nice job Dashhacker!!
I love this hack
and just to let you know it’s working on windows 7 64bit
no problem :D
actually yeah i had the resize the window
but other than that it runs fine in windows 7 64-bit
I am just wondering, as i do not own a PSP, will it ever be possible to do this without a PSP and just on the PC or Mac?
Same as above, I don’t have a PSP. Can I use somebody else export.orp ?
If yes, can somebody upload theirs? Thanks
I would strongly advise everyone not to share things like this. Granting someone access to your PS3 could lead to a hefty credit card bill and some missing files to boot.
Thanks for this great software I would love to see a native linux version so I wouldn’t need to run this inside a Windows XP Virtual Machine.
Thanks again !!
Keep up the good work.
Linux users just compile the source in to a native binary. Since ORP was developed under Linux, it’s well supported. See the Linux.mak file for details. Also, you’ll need to install these:
http://code.google.com/p/open-rp/wiki/LibraryDependencies
Maybe someone out there will maintain RPMs/DEBs for the main Linux distros at some point.
I copy the folder onto my psp under “game”. however when i run (play) the program on it, it says that it is corrupt. then opening my psp game folder on my pc, I cant seem to find the export.orp anywhere on my psp’s card. I feel like an idiot seeing how fast some ppl got it running. am i missing something here?
Is your PSP able to run home-brew software? If not, then that’s why it won’t run.
nope, thats what i figured. thanks tho.
DOES THE PSP NEED TO HAVE CUSTOM FIRMWARE ON IT
THE ORP_EXPORT THING WONT PLAY
why would i want to play ps2 gamez on my mac. can u fix this
Wow I can’t wait to try this! I’ll be able to play PS3 games with either my PS3 or 360 controllers right from my Netbook, possibly over WiFi at friends houses. Thanks to everyone involved in this project, it looks like it’ll be a lot of fun!
Coolll
i want for iphone.. :)
thanks for the update. I can now play ps3 games on my mac hehe. too bad photoshop is not emulated properly yet. guess it is too many pixels to transfer from the ps3. hd pics…
I put the orp_export file in my psp, it says data corrupt, wtf, does it need to be unbricked?
The dep must be disabled in vista.sometimes this helps but you stand at risk.
