For example: using an apache web server with simple dns redirection, it’s said you could possibly customize the various Home environments, changing videos, posters, text, etc. These customizations would only be visible to you, unless of course, others are using the rigged name server.
The other supposed vulnerabilities — downloading, uploading, or deleting any file from the Home server — seem implausible as they can only be achieved by real time packet manipulation; and again, that’s according to StreetskaterFU. Who knows what security Sony has actually implemented “behind the scenes.”
So keep in mind, while technically this could all be possible; it goes untested and should be considered speculation. Really, it’s completely theoretical.

It seems that because of legal issues, different areas will have different stuff. the International Server doesn’t have the Farcry area, or the Diesel store in the mall. I’m sure once contracts are worked out with more countries, the international servers will be able to stay on-par with the American and European servers.

I have great respect for hackers, special streetskaterFU, is a hard work to bypass ps3 security. And im sick too of people who say bluray is expensive, cmon…burners are 200 $, and media 10$/dvd. Compare that to the 80$ origninal game, at least in out country. For me matter only if backup games were to work, and NOT FROM HDD, even from bluray blanks.
Yeah only if it’s that simple. I think PS3 games now loads the latest patches/goes online through the sony network. I’m sure it’s much easier to find a way to play BD backups, but how to fool the system is another different matter.

They are 1.constant updating, if the server sees you have a different kind of firmware , they will banned you or damage your system ,,2. the 7th cell will constantly make sure that you are doing the right thing. Any thing like switching harddrive will not happen since the system only works with the registrated one. 3. Blue ray. This disc contains much stronger securties than before( DVD). So to break it will take a lot of times than you think.

Hacking the ps3 just like the psp sounds good to me… They both have similar xmb interfaces… I mean did the creators of the psp decide to give up on making security updates..? I really do beleive there is a way to get your back-up’s and homebrew loading on the ps3. It’s just someones job to get into the system. I highly doubt that there is only one person that can do this either… Mad props to Dark-Alex, but he wasn’t the only one hitting the scene with updates untill recently. Free games are good, but it will take years before Blue Ray’s age come… Think of ps2 ., people start to Burn games when DVD are cheaper.
