Having problems downloading the update must be the servers crashing with everyone trying to get the update.

Agreed without updates would we be able to play and stream divx and other content from network shares on our systems or play music while playing games among all the other features and updates, fixes they’ve done to improve the system. If you were using the PS3 with firmwire 1.00 as oppose to the current you would see how light and day the difference is in what they’ve improved upon.

The only thing that pisses me off about this update is that Sony forces me to update before I can use PSN. HUGE waste of time for me, and shame on Sony for such BS. I can understand if this was a jump from 2.X to 3.X but to go from second revision to 3rd revision is a POINTLESS update.

from what i see the new update lets you go full screen on mot video posts now, and it videos are a sharper than before. other than that, i don’t notice anything different. please feel free to correct me if i’m wrong. btw, i can’t wait for an update soon!!!
Before this update I needed to manually change hdmi settings when I took ps3 upstairs and hooked it into my tv in bedroom. Now it auto detects the connection, Sweet!
