Update: PS3 Filer v0.0.4 is now available. I’ve noticed slight differences here and there — namely a few cosmetics changes with a couple tweaks; however, still no sound.
Some more Blu-ray Java (BD-J) homebrew for the masses… A Japanese developer has released PS3 Filer v0.0.3 — open select image formats (png, gif, jpg) and even emulate the Nintendo Entertainment System.

I mean really, the PSP isnt THAT dependent on upgrades and u can get away with running an old FW for quite a while and be fine……..plus the new CFW’s are being made hours after the official one gets put out.

I’m the one that made the video, no, it doesn’t do anything, its the same as playing a dvd or something, it tricks the PS3 into loading the files as if they were a movie, so no, it cannot cause any harm or void the warranty.

the emulator doesn’t do anything with the PS3 kernel, so you are ok, I downloaded the content, tried it myself and it works. I even made a video to prove it too.
cool, i enjoy playing this on my psp/pc so i don’t mind having it there on my ps3. You no the funny thing is i was playing smb3 and had the sound of the game playing in my head. Evening when i died i had the game over song. Funny shit. Anyways cool and hope to see more of these in the future.
yeah, same thing happened to me with SMB. I could hear the jump, bricks breaking, even going inside pipe. It was all in my head sounds though.

I was trying this on my 40gb ntsc ps3 (smb3) was a .nes file (rom) but it would not respond to any controls once rom started. It played the main menu to the player select screen then restarted. Any help would be great, thanx. P.S. I could play pong and snake, dont know if it helps.

sorry ’bout earlier comment I have to hit “2″ twice, video didn’t explain this. Got it working now.
Works great apart from:
1. No sound of course
2. Can’t scroll down to see full list of games in menu. (I have about 30).
3. cannot press diagnal directions. (only up, down, left or right)
Apart from that, it seems to run pretty well. Would be even better if we could press the start button for “start” and the select button for “select” instead of having to bring up a menu.

It doesn’t mess with the system files, its the same as watching a dvd, so you must have cut the ps3 off while the HDD was still running or done something to it.

Hey guys, you all make this seem so easy (and I’m sure it is)… But I need a little help. I’ve unzipped the latest files, placed them in the root of a USB stick, named the folder correctly, etc… But when I go to videos and open this folder, my screen flickers black for ~5-seconds before opening up to a folder tree of some type. In it, there are two folder, some subfolders, and some files. It’s almost as if the application is’t auto-launching. Rather, I’m seeing the names of the raw files in the folders/subfolders. I’m running FE 2.42. Any ideas?

Is it at all possible to have more than one app on the PS3 at once? Does simply renaming the folder work?
This is fucking awesome! It also works if loaded on a psp memory stick and put intop the systems memory stick spot plus you can split your roms into folders since it does not seem to have a file scroll option for your list of roms, so about 15 to 20 roms per folder work great if you have alot of roms. Also this took me a while to figure out to get back to the menu of roms from a game press triangle and select the red button while in game to go back and also triangle and then the #2 button is infact start. All other buttons work on controller seem to work like the were made to work and oh yeah also select is #1 after hitting triange to bring up the on screen dvd controls. I have collected roms for almost every system and can’t wait for other emulators… This will not hurt your system it’s completely 100% safe and honestly i don’t think there is a patch sony can make to stop this without hurting themselfs in the blueray movie games market… So fuckin sick congrats to the guy who did this I personally love you and yo are my hero….. Now back to playin some nes contra bitches woot!

Everything works ok until I select a Rom then when I bring up the number pad the game won’t launch. Is it because I have new FW or am I doing something wrong?

i running the nes on lates fw :P they have djust stoped it from usb ports to run it you have to run in from a BD-r or BD-rw disc i use BD-RW
