Ooo la la… Announced at Leipzig is this bad boy –

…a new Wireless Keypad for PS3 that will make text communications and Web browsing much easier. The Wireless Keypad snaps onto the top of a SIXAXIS or DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller and comes with some cool features, including a mode that turns the main key area into a touch pad (similar to a touch pad on a Laptop computer). Once in this mode, you can slide your finger on this area to move the cursor on the screen and tap to enter. There will be two short cut buttons on the Keypad that will enable users to jump directly to the XMB’s “Friends” icon and the “Message Box” during gameplay.
The PS3 Wireless Keypad should be available late November. And also slated for a November release — the new PS3 160GB bundle with Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune.
WipEout HD, coming to PLAYSTATION Network this fall!

Comments (39)Update: PS3 Filer v0.0.4 is now available. I’ve noticed slight differences here and there — namely a few cosmetics changes with a couple tweaks; however, still no sound.
Some more Blu-ray Java (BD-J) homebrew for the masses… A Japanese developer has released PS3 Filer v0.0.3 — open select image formats (png, gif, jpg) and even emulate the Nintendo Entertainment System.
Jesse has shared a video of PS3 Filer in action –

Comments (92)Update: According to reputable sources — this is in fact legit. StreetskaterFU (remember?) has supposedly discovered a method to run [older] Blu-ray games from the HDD. Still nothing concrete.
More speculation, less hard evidence…
Another video has surfaced which apparently showcases the PS3 loading/playing backed-up games off a HDD. Although, afterward, you’ll likely be left scratching your head asking, “what the hell did I just watch?”
And as for that all-too-familiar sound in the background… I’d disregard it. Lets not question what’s happening behind the scenes.
The video shows:
- Warhawk running from HDD
- no PKG version
- no WH disc while WH is running
- Motorstorm running as proxy disc
- legal way
I wont explain the details here till the project is finished 100%, also cuz many devs want to take a look at first and not get it patched that fast. I can say that if all will work like I want it to you’ll need:
- “special” game dump of the game you want to play from HDD
- one (any) original bd game
- 2x minimum 60GB HDD’s (illegal way – it worx but its not allowed in most countrys – its working like a packed game on psp memory stick)
OR
-1 60GB HDD + original disc (legal way – no need to be inserted while playing)
Im using newest firmware PAL 60GB SKU. 3 games tested yet – working.
Games which should be possible from the knowledge i got yet:- Warhawk
- Motorstorm
- Resistance
- GT5
- COD3
- …I cant check more atm, as I dont have else here. The final way will be a bit different than the video shows. Even there are 2 different ways then to do it, thats because there are 2 different groups of games. One can be done with 1 HDD but then you need the original disk of the game.
i dont support piracy, this is just to safe your disks
THIS IS JUST A PROOF OF CONCEPT – NOT A FINISHED PROJECT!!!
if video doesnt work as stream just download it:
http://www.nera-studios.eu/ps3.MOV
better quality vid will come when i get new hdd + repaired hdtv
I hope you see theres no hidden PKG (game list is shown), no hidden disk (i insert motorstorm). At the end of the video i just wanted to show its no test unit –> watch the settings.
Sorry for bad TV quality, my HDTV just exploded and i need to use SDTV for 2 weeks now
if there are any questions, you can ask but i dont say ill answer all.

Comments (93)From Jack to Lambeth, and from Mr. Lambeth to PS3-Hacks, we have the inside scoop on the PlayStation Home Closed Beta. Check it…

Later today, the PLAYSTATION Store will be updated with a PlayStation Home theme. By downloading the theme, users are submitting an application to join the PlayStation Home Beta test community. We will be using a variety of criteria including activity on the PLAYSTATION Network to determine eligibility for the Beta community. Existing beta testers have automatically qualified to be part of the expanded beta.
We’re really excited about this milestone and want our most loyal fans to be a part of the evolution of PlayStation Home.
In Europe, SCEE is also beginning their expanded closed beta, directly targeting consumers who have been most active on PLAYSTATION Network and PLAYSTATION Store. SCEE will be in email contact with their PSN audience very shortly.
By the way, the Home theme is now available for download.
