Demonstrating the PlayStation 3 BD-J (Blu-Ray Disc Java) functionality is Dragula96’s Java rendition of Snake. As well, recently released — the classic game of Pong written for 2 players.
To install: decompress the archive and copy the AVCHD directory to the root of a USB flash drive or something similar; browse to the AVCHD folder under the XMB video menu and voila.

The begining of games starting with the PS3…. remember, before there was Atari, there were the pong consoles, that in fact, is the only thing it dd. In 2 years we are going to look back and laugh… the PS3 will emulate every system known to man, Atari, Intelivision, Sega Master System, NES, SNES, N64, Dreamcast, Gamecube…all PS line (ps1, ps2, psp), and dont think the xbox will be excluded…both xbox 1 and xbox 360 will work with the disc…. the best possibly buy because its the entire history of console and handheld gaming for only 400 bucks. I honestly see this happening once the ps3 is cracked…its potential is almost limitless!

Not emulate…run. Before the PS4 is released to the public…it will be totaly possible to stick in a ‘360′ xbox disc, click the little program under ‘Game” and actualy run it as if it were native hardware…if it were to emulate it, it would need 5 ps3’s…haha. Totaly possible…and if it can do that with the xbox…every other system would be no challenge at all.

Why the shit would you wanna play some ASS games like this on the ps3 anyway, i’m all for emulators theirs nothing i’d like more than to see a snes, megadrive, n64 and GBA emulators all accessable through the XMB. Im not bothered about ISO loaders because i dont mind paying for a game if its good.

Cant you guys see that its not about the game they have produced, it’s about the fact that they can create custom games which run on the PS3.
Just by using this method, now gives a platform for all the homebrew developers to stand on. Now that we can see it’s possible, I’m sure we’re gonna be seeing a lot more games being produced.
Just give it time and I’m sure the real homebrew developers won’t let us down.

2.in the folder youll see a Folder called AVCHD and A folder Called source, right click AVCHD and go to send to
and send it to your flash drive , memory stick etc…..
3.go to video on the ps3 press memory stick icon it shoud show AVCHD press X and have fun……..

According to PlayStation Network director Eric Lempel, firmware 2.42 “improves the playback quality of some PLAYSTATION 3 and PlayStation format software.It’s just a minor update.

Update: Users have reported the following changes for PS3 firmware 2.42
Life with PlayStation seems to have been released. You can access it by going into folding@home where you’ll see a globe you can interact with. Zeroing in on a specific area will yield news from that locale.
A Bluetooth mic fix has been added.

It wa rumored to be part of the 2.42 update and Kim Nyugen played that down so it seems to me that it will be on the store.

Whoever thought about the Folding @ home thing is taking a wild guess.. because all of the stuff in folding @ home have been there since the last update for it.

if no one has noticed, this is java, not some half baked scripting language, their are full emulators coded in java, im not saying it will work, as its probly as restricted as linux but if their is decent power to this java implementation we should be able to get atleast a SMS emulator running, or maybe NES, never know people.

ok I have an idea. I’m not a programmer or anything and my knowledge of how all this works is limited at best, but I have an idea that seems possible to me.
someone should try coding a Java app in this format that the PS3 can accept, and make this app kind of a diagnostic tool to interpret exactly how much of the PS3’s processing power and hardware access (hdd/ram read/write and Blu Ray drive) is allocated to Java homebrew using this method. It’s either going to be full access or it will be extremely limited like most have theorized on here and other sites. I think the most important step now is discovering where the limitations are so we can establish how much of a discovery this really is.
and for all those people who hate the homebrew that’s been made so far, you really must understand that these apps are no different than a simple “hello world” app. they’re just testing the waters to see if they can get things running using this method. good things will definitely come later if this is indeed the type of discovery we’ve been waiting for. Those things will obviously take longer than a few days to code. So be patient and try not to piss off the developers with your comments. They are the lifeblood of this scene. Without them we are just a bunch of consumers waiting for another product from Sony.
