People have tried but haven’t gotten much results.
Just looking at the system when you are in linux in other os mode the hypervisor is still active watching over your ass and slowing you down. Only way to get a hacking going on the system would probably be to kill that application or cause it to crash.

it’s probably because a lot of people complain about the total lack of ps3 news. this site seems to only update like once every 2 months, so i think these lesser “hacks” (of sorts) are a good thing to be posted up here.
I am really glad all exploits of the system are being discovered. However, the sad part is Sony buttoned up this system so well, that most exploits are trivial at best.
What does it give you then?

OK, the PS3 will 100% NEVER have a hack available for mass use, why ? because Sony can release an update immediately to kill any hacks that might have happened earlier - so please stop dreaming, it will never happen, and probably even PS4 will be the same now that Sony have ended the whole PS hack scene.

your a fuckin idiot. so sony can release an update, big fucking deal, THEY CANT FORCE YOU TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE, YOU HAVE TO DO THAT YOURSELF BY GOING TO SYSTEM UPDATE AND INSTALLING IT DUMBASS. and in regard to that it very well may turn out the same as the psp, ie the firmware release to fix the hack is rushed and opens up even more holes becasue they rushed it, or, they take their time and make a good one but by the time its released the hack has already spread though the internet.

Actually once the PS3 is hacked once defeating future updates is nothing. Its not the fact that Sony rushes the updates to the PSP to fix hacks and leaves more open. Its that once it got hacked hackers learn the coding inside and out. They than use that code to reverse engineer future updates. This is why Sony works so hard to keep us from hacking it even once. If the secret to hacking it spreads they wont be able to fight it. Thus the reason they came down on the brazilian guy so quickly.
Actually sony does force you to update your console if you want to use the online features. When a new FW is released, it locks out the ability to use any online feature except the internet browser.

because any new 360 can not be cracked to play backups from april since they released the lite on drive! you will have a better chance of seeing the ps3 hacked before 360 lite on

some people seem to think its just a matter of time based on other 360 drives in the past but this isnt the case with lite on it isnt going to be cracked any time soon if at all

if you saying you have hacked the lite on i think ur talking out ur arse or confused with the benq drive that looks the same
on the lite on the key/fw never leaves the chip theres no way to read it no way to sniff it and even if u could get the key without a fall dump to know how to spoff or even crack the fw its pointless
i dont see why any hacker would bother with fw hacks on lite on as it most likey needs a new exploit to get hold of the drive key from the motherboard nand seeing how the current exploit out needs the fw already hacked and like i said before having the key means nothing anyway
basicaly its like saying people will hack it to the point where we have hombrew then taking a step back for a old fw hack that offers less

Back to PS3
Personally i dont think the PS3 will be hacked. Its looking more and more unlikely. Im not saying its impossible as everyone thought the GC was impossible but in the end it was done. But with the 256bit encryption (thats double the encryption of what banks here in the UK use for their security) it doesnt seem likely that they will break it. Firmware updates like the poster previously stated are not of great importance and were the hack to be done via firmware updates once it is initially cracked it done and dusted the flood gates will open.The problem is decrypting what they have now and i think that is the main cause for concern.
On the other hand it is a change to see the developers finally create something that the hackers have no control over. Im assuming with the next update the twilight hack will be finished as well, and with 360 moving over to lite-on drives it seems all 3 hardware developers have done their homework in finally shutting the door.
Now the key question is do the hackers have it in them to break that door open? well only time will tell but from what i can see now? i would say no. But here is hoping that i am wrong ;)
Is any information going to be posted about the PuP that allows for downgrading of the PS3 Test sytems to version 1.00 and 1.5.
Supposedly the kernel was written differently back then and people are meant to be looking into why they changed the way the kernel was developed. Hoping to find a potential loop hole in the earlier firmwares, i dunno.
I any one knows any more info can they post please :D
