The update took forever to get to 10% last nite to the point i had to switch it off so i could get some sleep for work. Seems sony servers sure are getting raped. Let’s hope 2nite’s attempt is much better.
I just downloaded it to my system, I thought we would have been able to listin to music as we play games. Its telling me that music content cannot be played during use of this game.

12millions ps3s in the world…even if only 10% have internet access thats still over 1million tryin to download this! so not much of a suprise if its a bit slow on the very first day its out :)
all the updates are cumulative so u should be able to go from any firmware upto the newest without installing the ones in between.
But i’d guess a company like Sony has about 100,000 servers. Which would make ur estimate about 10 people a server. :)

Sony! Can’t you just make it so I can plug my Ipod (or other MP3 player) into the USB port and mix sound channels? What about screen captures? It would be cool to capture cool moments in a game, post them or share them and rate them, or just use them for wallpaper! And what about voice recognition so we can mute the volume or make it faster to use the internet browser instead of typing?! This would put you ahead of the wave instead of behind it!
I to wish for some of those features but you have to remember coding is a verry hard job, plus speach recognition has been done by microsoft so could be a copyright isue there and remember the ps3 does not have a great deal of ram to support all these features you ask for. That why the first in game xmb was withdrawn as they did not get it right on all consoles.

Updates serve a purpose last I checked, maybe you should just stick with plain jane XP and never update or version 1.0 psp firmware, or 1.0 ps3 firmware if you don’t care to update and get bug fixes and improvements.

after 2.40 update some games kept freezing on me, so updated to 2.41 as they said this would fix it, however still getting random freezes,

I’m sure there are alot of people who could do a way better job than sony! Like DA for the PSP! And all the homebrew developers! And they already made in game sound possible on the f**** PSP!!! If its 2 hard 2 read music and gamedata @ the same time, I wouldnt mind having an extra memorycard with music!! It shouldnt be a problem, cause nothing would have 2 be stored in the RAM, since its directly read and processed! Sony, THINK!!! Dont bring out useless stuff… just look @ what the homebrew scene has accomplished, and if U cant do any better @ least steal their Ideas!!! IT AINT THAT HARD!!!!

For those with the same pain in the ass as me (who want in-game music) its not all sonys fault, the games have to support the feature fully or some will lag/not work at all, so the game devs need to provide updates for the games, anyway what happened to playing your own tunes in the GTA series (on PSP) why cant they do this now on PS3 for GTA IV, I would like that feature………………………any ways roll on PS3 Home, maybe this side of 2009??????

Hardly seems worth it at this point does it guys.. but lets remember game titles haven’t been developed to support full 1080p, game development alone hasn’t reached its full penitential as of yet.
PS3 is capable of so much more, we always seem to compare our beloved PS3 to the arch rival 360. But lets remember the 360 has been out for alot longer and has alot of time to be developed sure Sony rushed the PS3’s release but hey..
Once the PS3 climbs out of the long and deep tunnel its dug its self into its going to bomb the 360. Sure the light at the end of the tunnel may be blinding right now but anyway..
In saying that try a little harder Sony.. and for the fools grinding down this update just think of it as a step toward the right path.
I think every step on the PSP & PS3 firmware updates has been an overall positive step. Obviously with updates and changes every now and there you will have something that breaks but in the end, I think it looks like it’s all for the better. Improvements? In Game XMB, add Blu-ray TrueHD Master Audio, BD Live, improved that PS Store, improved playback and added divx, there’s been a lot added to it since it started. Take away updates and you dont’ have that and all the bug fixes mentioned in the updates release notes.
