Sony has officially unleashed PS3 firmware 2.30. We’ll have the download available for you shortly; otherwise, you may grab it directly via System Update.
$hifty, I agree with you. It takes for ever for pictures to show up on what you can download, during browsing and such, other people have stated this also. Although the download itself seems a little faster. There are also some pictures that are not there that should be so they show up as broken.

just to point out, the store is likely to be slow because they probably rushed getting it ready for release and therefore it has wuite alot of faults, but in the end its just an internet shop. What we really care about is god games, so no worries

being slow its at the beginning as your going through the menus but after all the pics are loaded and in the systems cache it goes by smoother than before. I’m happy with it … I think its easier than before.
This is the update I wanted …. DTS-HD audio codec’s. Now I can use my Onkyo SR605 amp to its true potential (7.1 surround sound)…. so not “another waste of a firmware”.
Im not moaning about the “monthly” :S updates im saying that this firmware wasnt anything useful to me. The store does look nice but it works just aswell as the old one in my opinion.
yes the update doesn’t offer much to the average joe, but it is all leading to the updates that count. And don’t forget that the updates are mostly there to make the consoles firmware more stable, which is for our benefit
Also just to point out that i like the xbox 360, i still like the ps3 more, but i do like the xbox 360 as a console. But… a big but which is I HATE MICROSOFT! So the xbox 360 is still a shitbox 360, because microsoft are so unreliable and make machines that break.

Game play will be available April 21st to May 5th. but you have to resserve a copy of the game to have access to the beta, which will be available through the playstation store.

It looked like in the 2.2 release they nerfed the ability to copy to the PS3 from a media server, but now it looks like it’s opened back up and you can copy just fine.
the whole reason of this update is to stop the PSN thiefs! some cleva ppl have managed to hack psn and get the content of psn store for FREE! so that is why there is massive update on store!
haha, they released it early because of the PKG loader. there are no security updates in this one. theyre playing a game with the PKG loader guy. he said he was waiting for this so he could beat sony’s encryption changes but sony just didnt change any security stuff, so he either has to wait for them to fold, or release it, then sony can block it.
they wont ban you permanently or whatever, but they’ll just stop ps3s with firmwares that arent stock accessing the PSN. if you take away the hack and update, you will be able to use the PSN again. they dont just want to discourage people from using hacks, they want you to “come back to the light side”
DID you guys notice the “GLITCH” on Crash bandicut 2 … it has preview tab and the pics in there are not from the game at all … it looks like some old school quebert lol.
Okay, I’m glad that Sony’s making more updates, but I don’t want another freakin’ update before the in-game xmb or home (which ever comes first). Sony just give me Home and I’ll be happy untill in-game xmb, or give me in-game xmb and I’ll be happy untill home. But seriously when ever they do get a new feature I want it. But give me the in-game xmb in the next firmware update. I’m getting tempted to by a faggetbox.

forget hacked ps3, if it will ever be hacked Sony will just ban all mac addresses with hacked firmware or illegal games on their ps3 from psn.

I wish sony would make patches that were 10mb instead of whole firmwares that are 120mb.
I hate the stupid update… Now everytime when i start a game… I hear this ploping sound :(
