I got home ~ 1 am last night with a copy of GTA IV to realize my PS3 freezes near the end or immediately after the opening cut scene. Now — just now — after a little research I’ve learned I’m not the only one; however, most report the 60GB launch models are the problem. Mine is a 20GB launch model with the same issue.
Reportedly Rockstar has issued a simple [temporary?] fix: delete the game install data, any game saves (if you made it that far), and then start over. I’ve yet to confirm until I get home later this evening. Update: this doesn’t fix the problem on my 20GB PS3; still locks up.
Fortunately for me, my backup 40GB console works fine. Unfortunate for you, because online in the GTA universe — yous gonna get jacked, son.
Comments (163)Just when you thought things were looking up, SCE announces their latest delay — PlayStation Home.
We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today,” said Kazuo Hirai, President and Group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. “Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PLAYSTATION Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition.
Closed beta testing will continue onward this summer; the open beta service will commence in the fall.
