i have a solution to the memory problem just use a solid state disk based harddrive and then use a large page file. solid state disks are harddrives made from non-volitole memory so the access times are extremly fast the average access time on the fastest harddrives that are disc based are something like 32ms with solid state your looking at .001ms or less! p.s. sorry for the double post

with access to the gpu, compiz and all it entails definatly seems to be closer to our grasp, now all we need is a few really dedicated devs to make a version of it that will be able to run xgl on the ps3 cell cpu, and use the gpu to output it in the form of that delicious compiz we love so very much <3 :) <3 :)

a PC game what will use 1GB of GDDR RAM on the PS3 with max. 250MB of GDDR RAM?
Actually, plenty of pc game can, 1GB ram is nothing... and 250MB graphics ram is even more patheatic, in fact xbox's gdu is better, oh well.. hopefully ps3 makes it up with cell processor.

To all those hoping for isoloader again - FUCK YOU! - it won't happen just coz some assholes got access to the GPU. what I hope comes out of this is it leads to cool things being developed for Linux, someone said better playback in VLC etc - agreed. but you still won't get ISOloader just coz they get nice gfx. noobs.
