According to Eric Lempel, PS3 firmware version 2.01 is in the works…
…We know you like to hear about updates a few days in advance, so here’s a quick heads up that we have a new System Software update in the works.
Firmware v2.01 is a minor update that will improve the stability of PLAYSTATION 3.
We’ll provide more specifics as the update is about to go live, but we thought we’d give loyal blog readers advance notice!

I just downloaded the latest firmware (2.01) andddd…its a piece of shit! i cant even i cant sign in to the network of COD4! is n e 1 getting the same problems?
I HOPE this will solve the problem with warhawk crashing when I try to update it. I’m pretty sure that’s firmware related and not part of the actual game (It is the kind of pop up style box that the PS3 firmware itself uses.)

I hope this update fixes the freezing in Assassins Creed.. Also, Call of Duty 4 sometimes fucks up online, but I guess thats a server issue… Also, my bluetooth remote sometimes crashes and moves the analog without me touching it.. Its happened to me in several games. These bugs need to go ASAP.
I have the same problem with my controller’s analog stick. Pisses me off. Happens at the worse times.
Thank God… I thought I was the only one experiencing this.. I’ve gotten shot several times online due to this bug… And when playing NBA 2k8 this happens as well…. SONY seriously needs to fix this bug…
are you guys talking about the wireless sixaxis controllers? many times in RFOM the guy starts running in circles on his own and i get shot because of it. i think that glitch is possibly an unresolvable wifi thing. there are so many types of interferance out there, microwaves, cell phones, wifi networks, etc. Its probably an occasional interruption from one or more of these things that causes that to happen.

if you’re pressing lets say, up and x, it freezes and up and x is held for like 6 seconds or so, I get it alot.
yea its the interferience with all the other wireless shaz in ur house. i got rid of my portable home phones and wifi and boom mb once or twice a week it disconnects
hope that fixes the problem crashing after restart… every third time i restart my ps3 xmb crashes compleatly and i have to reset the whole ps3… damn shit 2.00

Well as for the PS3 ever being mod able I dont think so the PS2 and the Xbox were hacked within the 1st year of production. that year has passed.
It’ll be hacked eventually, but who knows how long that could take. Sadly it could be another 5 years when nobody will care. Any hacker will have to admit that even if some drastic hack comes out tomorrow, Sony built a really secure system in terms of exploitation compared to what they’ve done in the past.
Everyone keeps saying it’s so secure and stuff, has sony really mentioned this? Maybe the hacker is waiting for the right moment to start his job. He could be lazy you know.
True so far one year and a day today from launch in the U.S. and still no hacks or true exploits found. Yeah it looks like they did a great job with the security on the box this time around. However odds are there are some loopholes somewhere in the code. Question is finding one to work and making something useful with it. The best thing would be if they were to find an expliot hole that exists in all firmwares up to a certain point. Now that would be great. Wait & Hope is all you can do really.

Exactly, the thing is, sony did not build PS3 for hackers or PC builders, they built it to make money. This is the bottom line. The worst part is- thousands of people still are amazed by these STUPID THINGS like the themes and wallpapers and organizing music. The people who should have bought a WII! Maybe this way, sony would have done things that still need to be done when they LAUNCHED the system!!!!!
the reason they didint implemt these features when it was launched is because it was rushed. if m$didint rush the 360 out 2 years ago the ps3 wouldint even be released yet most likley it wouldint of been launched till next christmas. also they need to hype fw updates so people actuall update there ps3. also people stop complaining about sony not giving you anything in a update when they didint even say it was going to be in it.

my ps3 turned itself on to let me know there was an update (a glitch or a new feature???)
Feature – I’m assuming you have remote start turned on? My system did the same thing, turns out that part of the remote-start system is that since it keeps an active internet connection while turned off, SONY can poke it with a notice that there’s an update, and therefore isn’t all that spooky that it happend :) No worries, my friend, PCs do the same thing (WOL, Wake-On LAN) and that’s been around for a while.

no the ps3 will never be able to be “hacked”. I don’t understand why you turdclowns don’t get it?. Even if someone brought out a new hack tomorrow morning, it would be fixed by sony the day after in the another minor update. Even if you refused to download the update at first, you would eventually need to download in the future due to new features (Home etc). Welcome to the future of hack-proof gaming. you’re forgetting about the Infectus chip and its ability to allow for firmware backups and downgrades back to those firmwares. :-P
2.00 debug offers ability to downgrade firmware appearently.. sony is finally catching on. I prefer flexibility.
PS3 will be hacked, when the technology is right and the time is prime… blu-ray backups arn’t fesiable, and the right bug hasn’t been discovered yet to allow HDD loading.

since downloading this my PS3 has crashed quite a few times. Thought this was for system stability?
2.0 or 2.0.1 seems to have fixed the Out Of Memory errors the web browser kept giving me :)
