The much anticipated PS3 firmware version 2.0 is reportedly slated for release on October 30th. That’s according to the terms of service & user agreement located here on the official PlayStation website.
No, the user agreement is 2.0. It NEVER SAID ANYWHERE THAT ANYTHING 2.0 is coming in October 30. only that the new changes in the USER AGREEMENT 2.0 is in effect as of that.
It is for eyecreate, which will come out 23rd and then the upload to PSN service etc for your personal stuff will be open as of the 30th.

see, thats originally what i was hoping for. I thought i’d save money and get a PS3 and then emulate the 360 and Wii on that. but apparently the PS3 is not only uncrackable to this day (mostly because people keep updating too fast to care about hacking it), but also the processor is so weird in the way it handles it’s tasks. its built for what could basicially be considered as a proprietary style of game programming. emulation does slow down a console anyway, but taking that out as a factor, even if you could magically just turn a PS3 into a 360, Halo 3 probably would run at 2 frames a second or something.

And the reason everyone wants 2.0 so bad is because its supposed to (im hoping) let you veiw the XMB during gameplay and allowing music playback. I think an update to the firmware is coming out…i saw a small article on engadget’s site with a link taking me to a larger article. Sketchy details on what exactly is coming up but it has something to do with uptating the blu-ray format to Profile 1.1…apparently all blu-ray players have to have this format after Oct 31st. Check out the article here…
i’ll bet that has to do with all the people making Blu Ray backups and converting HD Dvd to Blu Ray, etc. The 1.1 probably addresses this in some way, to make sure backups wont run.

guys if you read the update agreement it seems tailored more for a new firmware that would give you sharing access and copyright for what seems like streaming also… now to my knowledge that would only apply to home and with home come the new firmware… the agreement is effective the 30th but that doesnt mean home or a firmware is coming out that day… just preparation probly but means could be soon….

Well, I gotta say that that was one of the dumbest blogs I’ve ever read. I’m not gonna say that anyone is stupid except for me for reading it. I’ve gotta say though that it was almost as entertaining as reading the Star Wars intro text on Family Guy. Alright, so here’s my real point. Who cares if you can play background music? I admit that I was looking forward to this new feature in a new update, but then I realized that I wouldn’t use the feature. I have an Xbox 360, too, and when I play background music it just slows everything down. It requires reading the hard drive to buffer sound. That can cause possible delayed gameplay. So I just change the source on my stereo if I need to hear music that badly, which isn’t that often since I’d rather hear the game anyway. Oh no, it’s already happening. I’m… turning… into… one of… YOU damn bloggers with an attitude. Oh shit. Shoot me now! I feel stupider already (look it up). Seriously though folks, I think that the PS button should be used to do more, like adding an option to see different people that are playing online, or being able to do a screen capture at any time. That would be cool. Or add a universal record-and-fly feature that would enable you to record and playback any game with and playback with a free-roming camera. Halo 3 really did well by adding this feature (which is just a programmers debug feature that they just left in). It should be a feature that you can do with any game without extra game content updates independent of the game engine. It should be part of the system itself. Then you could share (post) that content at Playstation’s HOME. Speaking of HOME, I hope that HOME won’t be like this blog. Peace! I’m outta here. (sound of drumsticks falling and hitting floor)

Well, I gotta say that that was one of the dumbest blogs I’ve ever read. I’m not gonna say that anyone is stupid except for me for reading it. I’ve gotta say though that it was almost as entertaining as reading the Star Wars intro text on Family Guy. Alright, so here’s my real point. Who cares if you can play background music? I admit that I was looking forward to this new feature in a new update, but then I realized that I wouldn’t use the feature. I have an Xbox 360, too, and when I play background music it just slows everything down. It requires reading the hard drive to buffer sound. That can cause possible delayed gameplay. So I just change the source on my stereo if I need to hear music that badly, which isn’t that often since I’d rather hear the game anyway. Oh no, it’s already happening. I’m… turning… into… one of… YOU damn bloggers with an attitude. Oh shit. Shoot me now! I feel stupider already (look it up). Seriously though folks, I think that the PS button should be used to do more, like adding an option to see different people that are playing online, or being able to do a screen capture at any time. That would be cool. Or add a universal record-and-fly feature that would enable you to record and playback any game with and playback with a free-roming camera. Halo 3 really did well by adding this feature (which is just a programmers debug feature that they just left in). It should be a feature that you can do with any game without extra game content updates independent of the game engine. It should be part of the system itself. Then you could share (post) that content at Playstation’s HOME. Speaking of HOME, I hope that HOME won’t be like this blog. Peace! I’m outta here. (sound of drumsticks falling and hitting floor)
