Immediately following the premiere of Beverly Hills 90210 season 5 (on troptv), Sony releases PS3 firmware v1.92. What an awesome night! Although it’s not quite 2.0, it’s something new, I guess… As I write this I’m watching the PS3 progress bar change colour. Not sure what’s new or changed in this version, but check back soon for an update.

I downloaded and installed yet another seemingly useless update.. I believe this fixes several bugs related to Warhawk or what not.. SONY needs to speed things up… I’m getting tired of playing the same games…. Even though the Ps3 is also my movie streaming machine, the real reason I baught the damn thing was for some great gaming… So hurry tfu SONY………………………

i upgraded to 1.92 this morn and as soon as it installed i get get the damn thing online, what the hell is up with that? keeps saying i can establish a connection and the ip connection test keeps timing out, any ideas guys?

To my knowledge, this update sped things up with the PS3s OS. It also lessened the memory requirements for the system, so games can be made with like 3MB of extra ram.

Ya the PS3 has good hardware (the drive, hdd, exp. slots, ect.) but other than that and having a browser in it, the 360 pwns the PS3. Ripping BD or HD DVD’s to MP4s (720p,1080i) and beings able to store them on my PS3’s hdd (at 1.7-2.5 gb per 720p movie) is something i like, same with music and photos, but wheres the music player for ingame? why isn’t the PS button as useful as the 360’s Guide button? Maybe in updates we will see somthing.
I can honestly say that i like em both and would recommend everyone else do the same (when u can). Because u know theres goin to be games on one but not on the other, but if there is a game on both, got for the 360, loading times seem to be bout a quarter (1/4) faster on the 360 compared to the PS3. One more thing… the PS3 controllers love to lose connection for a few seconds while your playing, at random times, never has this happened on any of my 4 360 controllers.

i installed this update and it wont let me online. i can get the internet browser working through f@h but it is a very limited amount you can do with it. the connection tests work fine and the ps store doesnt connect either >:(

A real addition of 1.92 is that now, the SixAxis will automatically shut-off after some time of inactivity to save the battery life… Try it yourself!
Why hasn’t this functionality been added at first?
Um the SixAxis always turned off after about 10 mins if you turn off the console.

What’s your point? I have a PS3 and a computer. I can play all those games at higher graphics than the 360 with my mid-range PC. Oh yeah, it cost me $400 and it has 500GB. I havent picked up warhawk yet, though the screenshots look good and it did say 1080i on the back cover so i might. Sony sux for not supporting 720p to 1080i upscaling.

LMAO, you dumbass fanboi, the delay for GTA4 is due to contractual agreements and has nothing to do with blugay or dvd. There has always been a gap between so-called ‘ps# exclusives’. There is only 2 reasons to own a PS3… Gran Turismo and Final Fantasy. Thats it.

While I did not hear this specifically from Rockstar its -very- obvious. Consider MGS2 and 3 for xbox. Same game, same video’s, etc. It was over a year and in a interview they said they had some contract thing for exclusives to be 1 year on PS2 before going to other platforms like PC or xbox. Same thing with GTA. Was over a year before it came out for XBOX. As for the video’s, I have a nice big tv (65″ Mitsubishi) and honestly I can not tell much difference between Bluray and DVD even at 1080 resolution.
You will also see xbox 360 exclusive games waiting a year or more before popping up on PS3. Like i said before, i have all three systems so i find stupid fanboys a bit irritating.

i played Hitman Blood money- PS2 on frimware 1,90 and it worked very good but after that upgrade, 1,92 it cant play the game :-(

Technically, the playstation’s firmware is not related to the release of Home. The home site says that the final version of home will be downloadable from the Playstation Store. People using the beta right now are not using a different firmware.

Why doesn’t sony just pull the 1.92 update or at least stop forcing people to update cuz its causing a lot of problems for a lot of people.
Here is something interesting I just figured out. And this applies to both the PS3 and the 360. If your wireless router is set to have it’s SSID broadcast off niether console will be able to access the internet. PC’s are uneffected. This means if you want to have your home wireless network hidden to the outside world by not broadcasting it’s SSID (so other wireless devices can detect it), your fucked if you have a 360 or PS3, because they only work when you blab the SSID to the outside world. Pass it along……
No it works. Mine isn’t broadcasted. You just have to type the SSID in correctly when you set it up. You probably didn’t cause your some lameass kid who can’t spell. jk lol
