A blurry and pretty much incoherent video has been posted which guides you through the steps of converting HD-DVD media to Blu-Ray format. The result is said to be playable on the PlayStation 3 with zero quality loss. Unfortunately we can’t say the same for the video which demonstrates the whole process –
Anyone have a legible guide to share? Or perhaps a clearer video?

Comments (33)Sadly the title says it all… I don’t know whether to cry or toss my PS3 through the window. Anyway, chelsea_fc has shared this heart-wrenching news with me, and now I’ll share with you –
Sony said on Thursday it would postpone the launch of the Home virtual community service for its PlayStation 3 game console to early next year, the latest setback in its video game battle with Microsoft and Nintendo.
The 3D Home online service, in which players can create and “own” characters and content, was originally scheduled for launch this autumn.
Sony Computer Entertainment, the video game unit of Sony, said it was postponing the launch to improve product quality.
Whaaat, early next year?! C’mon Sony, smarten up!
Yeah, yeah, I know — this doesn’t relate to hacking the PS3, but it’s something we’re all looking forward too. Right? In the meantime, my frustration gets taken out on you — in a game of WarHawk! Eucadia, Death Match, Urban Strike — watch yourself!

Comments (38)Remember the whole ordeal behind this supposed .TIF exploit? Well, turns out it is actually useful for something else. As demonstrated in the video below, using the same .TIF, you can launch and play PS3 titles which require a later firmware version. Great for those who remain below 1.93 and have high hopes of an ISO loader being released, one day. :)
Thanks to Craig and the PS3-Hacks Team for sharing.

Comments (46)Hermes, who is well known for PS2 homebrew — PS2Reality Mediaplayer & Guitarfun — has released an experimental homebrew loader for the PS3. Currently supporting only the two said homebrews; PSXLoader certainly demonstrates potential. And once the kinks are ironed out, I would imagine it possible to boot other PlayStation 2 homebrew.
To use (I think): you need firmware 1.90 or later and SWAP MAGIC version 3.6 or later.
Also, you need a series of modules, which are copyrighted by Sony, and for that reason, they’re not distributed in this package.
Here is a Google translation of the release thread:
Here teneis first release of this program, that consists of a shipper who adds/replaces the modules that lack in the BIOS of PS3, as well as the modules USB that use the applications of PS2 (and that are incompatible with the emulation under PS3)
, At the moment single it is prepared to execute my Guitarfun game and the PS2Reality Mediaplayer, since this is one release premature, in order that podais to enjoy these applications already and to solve the problems that appear.
But ahead, one was to improve the GUI and to even increase the degree of virtualizacion, for those applications of PS2 that were suspended and they do not support pendrives or that modules “X” do not use.
Unfortunately with this preliminary version, the readme is Spanish. Pass it through Google Translator for a somewhat clearer understanding.

Comments (22)Update: Ooo… Something I’ve wanted and I vaguely recall others mentioning it too… It seems if the controller is idle for X amount of time, it automatically shuts off; rather than wasting the batteries. This wasn’t present in 1.92, was it?
There isn’t much surrounding the PS3 hacking scene these days — just wannabes with their fake videos. In lieu of the PS3 hacks, Sony continues blasting out firmware updates; which can be quite discouraging, I’m sure. On a brighter note — this means we’re closer to the release of Home. That’s something to look forward too, right? :)
According to official word at the PlayStation.Blog — this update fixes the network disconnect issue that some may have experienced as a result of installing firmware 1.92. Check back shortly for additions / changes, whatever else Sony decided to put in this update.
My PS3 is in the midst of updating right now; thanks for the news tip, John.

Comments (45)Update: According to Sony, this is new in 1.92 –
“New for 1.92: Playability status with the PS3™ system has changed for some PlayStation®2 format titles. To check on the latest status, visit the search site for compatible titles (coming soon).”
That’s it? Pshaw… Oh yeah — download 1.92 below.
Immediately following the premiere of Beverly Hills 90210 season 5 (on troptv), Sony releases PS3 firmware v1.92. What an awesome night! Although it’s not quite 2.0, it’s something new, I guess… As I write this I’m watching the PS3 progress bar change colour. Not sure what’s new or changed in this version, but check back soon for an update.
Maybe after some Warhawk!!!

Comments (106)Even though the game absolutely sucks, Lair truly demonstrates how dope Sony’s Remote Play functionality is.
Lair being the first PS3 title supporting “Remote Play” allows you to play the actual game while out ‘n about. Of course graphics and such are down-sampled so the network response time is faster. But it’s still playable.
Some are even saying the game responds/controls better using the PSP analog stick VS. the PS3 SIXAXIS controller.
Too bad there’s no homebrew for the PS3, yet… PSP/PS3 homebrew utilizing Remote Play would be interesting.
Gotta give it to Sony for this one!
