Update: According to Eric Lempel, PlayStation Network Operations Director, there will be no in-game MP3 playback just yet… But here’s official word of what firmware 1.90 will consist of:
Customization is one new feature: you can now personalize the wallpaper on your XMB with a photo. When viewing a photo, simply bring up the options screen by pressing the triangle button and selecting “set as wallpaper” from the options displayed. Additionally, you can now change the order of the games displayed under the game icon on the XMB.
Another new feature focuses on added communication elements: When you’re sending messages to friends on PLAYSTATION Network, you can now use emoticons. We’ve added a bunch of emoticons that can be easily accessed from the virtual keyboard. Also, another cool addition is, when an avatar is displayed during voice/video chat, the avatar will move in response to audio.
Finally, on the more technical side, you can now play AVCHD videos saved on a Memory Stick or digital video camera, and we’ve added the ability to upscale audio CD output from your PS3. Now, there are two requirements for this feature: the device you’re outputting to must support a sampling frequency of 88.2 kHz or 176.4 kHz, and your PS3 must be connected to that device with an HDMI cable or digital optical cable.
Oh, and one more thing: you can now eject discs using your controller by selecting “Eject Disc” in the options menu after you push the PS button.
Several other minor options will be included in 1.90 including a few new display options that will allow you to adjust your display while playing PlayStation, PlayStation2 and Blu-ray movies.

There have been a few rumours floating around about people spotting a v1.90 firmware PS3 at E3 last week. The best part of this rumour is that some people are reporting this new firmware to include an in game option for your mp3’s. At last the ability to make your own custom soundtracks! i returned my 600 bux ps3 that was 1.82 and got 100 bux back and a free controler, now im back to 1.5. i hope i iso loader will come out soon. i think one is coming out by febuary or something by peradox. man. all these great hacker and nothing yet? oh well. time is virtue.

In game music is really cool.I was wondering is it true about the cheaper ps3s having cheaper blue ray and no emotion engine like GAT said? I wont feel as bad about payin more then.
Cheaper bluray diode? Fasle. No emotion engine? True, but there is an emulation that works just as well to cut production costs.
It’s doesn’t work as well. The current backwards compatibility with EE in the PS3 is 95%. Without the Emotion Engine it goes down to 85%. It’s still pretty high though.
Im still on firmware 1.50… Can’t wait for ISO Loader!!!

Guys FW1.90 is coming out I just read in PSW Issue #96 this: “The latest 1.9 system update lets you print pictures that are on the PS3 hard drive to Epson printers”

The Xbox360 may have good games by now but in a few years its gona fail.Its gona fail because developers are gona adapt to the blu-ray data space. The DVDs are a thing of the past(they were very succesful), but now we are in the future, things are diferent.So 360 you better get youreself a good HD format if you want to be at the same level as the PS3.LONG LIVE BLU-RAY

mp3 in games isn’t bad , i think the must make fireware to record games like the program fraps and use your ps3 as HD recorder to record movies and programs on tv. is that possible? with firmware update ….
they could do it, but it would lag sometimes depending on the game. it has to process the game and convert it to video. it easier for them to tell you to buy an hdd or dvd recorder.
PS3-DVR…. Using my motorola HD-DVR cablebox, I record HD movies and can transfer them to the PC through firewire. Then I transfer them to the PS3. Wahla…HD movies recorded from tv on the PS3. Upgrade the HDD in the ps3 to something bigger and you can have an endless library of HD movies.
I just want the firmware to make the fan less noisy. If noisy fan is needed for up converting regular dvd it just isnt worth it to me.

You can’t do this. Unless they make the fan slower and your PS3 overheat. You can’t change the hardware in a firmware update.

yeah but all i did was login using my ps3 that was the first time i used it, before that all i had done on the computer was create the account and that was it so the only thing that could’ve possibly caused it was the ps3 or someone hacking my account but thats unlikely.

I turned it on and I was going to install YDL but now I’m D/l 1.9. I Really like the idea of custom tracks in game but i heard that it was already possible just no games support it. So am I going to be able to play RFOM while listening to The Used and Avenged Sevenfold? How About All That Remains or 30 Seconds To Mars?
