Rumours are circulating the virtual streets that Sony is preparing the release of firmware 1.81, possibly due out tomorrow — Friday the 15th.
Numerous emails we have received indicate mostly bug fixes; I, for one, experience poor playback quality when streaming MP3’s from my Windows Media Server. Other notable problems: unable to zoom pictures exported from the media server, RGB Full/Limited issue — having to turn it off/on each time after restarting the PS3 console.
For the moment this should be treated as pure speculation; but who knows, we’ve all seen stranger things.

Sony is feeling the pressure of HOMEBREW……. I feel it getting closer day by day,,,,,, You can be sure that this update will have a shit load of security enhancements which will eventually be breached, so they are futile…. Just futile….
omfg….just bought a brand new never opened original mint condition perfectly working 1.00 import from the initial release in Japan. this very well may have been the last remaining unsold unit from that time period. and its a 60gb!
only downside is the region coding issue prevents PS1 and PS2 games from loading, but im sure they will fix that when the movement gets going and some homebrew finally comes out. only $700 brand new from a store. i am fucking absolutely bouncing off walls about this.
hmm, i think i might update tomorrow…that 1.81 fw has loads of great features….NOT!!!! LMFAO!!! hahaha :)

i waited months i had a 1.00, and i updated to 1.80 and now 1.81. My ps3 is going legit. the upscaling is sweet (if u have a nice tv). Its worth it just for that feature + free online gameplay. M$ wants u to buy games and buy online service. Sony is not greedy so i will buy the games for ps3, use xbox1 for homebrew, and 360 for my backups. good luck all
