Looks like Sony is trying to use scare tactics on their customers. In a recent interview with gameindustry.biz Dave Karraker a SCEA spokesperson was quoted saying:
“The best we can do as a company is to make our security that much stronger and aggressively pursue legal action against anyone caught trying to use an exploit in an illegal manner.”
If legal threats don’t scare you he also tried working another angle on the scare tactics:
“Naturally, any use of an exploit on the system software does void the warranty on the PS3 system… Which could be a costly mistake to see if you can run an old SEGA CD game on it,”
Let’s hope Sony can learn a lesson from the RIAA, suing your customer base is never good for business.

I dont buy the so called “backup”excuse to make an ISO loader for the ps3.People will ilegally download games and run em… “backin up”your games is not exactly nesesary and about 5% wont brake the law… like psp-hacks for example,its literaly filled with criminals of piracy. >.

recently i downloaded dawn of mana iso and bought it after my sister likes it…n we don’t use ps3 since the graphics looked downgraded..so we stick with ps2 instead…

SONY has realized that this will be their most costly lost to hackers… They should stop bitching because they will make tremendous revenue when titles like Metal Gear 4 and such come out….. Hundreds of thousands of units will be baught witht the sole purpose of playing these titles…..
man if they hacked this system to play other games and emulations i would buy a second system just to have one on line and the other modded now if they do mod it we need those brillant people behind the xbox media center to make the ps3 media center I like sony but i like the cool features of a modded system way more

Sony, what a laugh. Amazing how a company can make such threats and promise to sue those who hack. Yet they can’t even keep promises on what they will add to their gaming systems. Example: The PS2 will have amazing Toy Story like graphics when it comes out. Puhahaha

If people will just place themselves in the shoes of the game developers and software developers, as well as Sony’s employees, all you would think twice before saying screw Sony for making legal actions. Didn’t they fix that in 1.80? The whole upscaling the games and DVD’s to 1080p? The reason it looked chopped up before was because it displayed those games at a low resolution and then stretched them out. But now if they’re upscaled properly then they should look fine, or even better than the original if you have a HDTV.
WTF, whose trying to play SEGA CD games, everyone knows only Sonic CD was worth it.

if SONY has so BAD security why the Iso loader is taking soo much time , PARADOX said , we gonna hack the ps3 faster than the 360 was hacked , and nothing yet , and about that video showing here is a shit , all those kind of mistakes on the firmware happens all the time that doenst mean that the iso is almost finished , i think that the iso loader is a the 5% done =) , and BAD security in a matter of facts the positions is this:
1.- Wii (haked 1 month after the release) Modchip
2.- Xbox360 (hacked 5 months after the release) firmware hack
3.- PS3?? what kind of hack u can use with this of course that u dont have to breack all the cover of the console just to play ps2 backups XD

You do realize that RIAA represents Sony Music, right?
They’ll sue anyone and everyone, ask DavesClassics about Sony’s legal department and a PS1 BIOS file they once hosted. Might be a little hard to do though, as DavesCLassics was KILLED by Sony’s legal department. Or ask Lik-Sing, a legit international buisness how Sony plays against ‘threats’.
