How bout ISO? Is this mean We (I mean, me n some of my friends) will have to wait sometimes longer to enjoy playing through ISO? Im not into piracy, but in some country, money is so much worthed. And the price of BR-Disc seems to be unreachable. Dont blame us, Blame the Capitalist..

Long live Philantrophy… err, I mean Hacker. ^_^

just like the psp the ps3 may take a while to get an actual “REAL” iso loader and not just a rumor bout one.

Actually from here looks like sonys actually making ps3 owners happier themselves, other than “paradox” or other people who say they got working iso loaders. =))

The accessible XMB bar during gameplay will rock. I won’t have to listen to those crappy songs they always put on video games. But hopefully they’ll add the ability to stream music from your PC through the router like in the 360. That’d be awesome.

XMB while in a game? Yes please. This means if you’re stuck in say, Oblivion, you could hit the PS button, open the web browser, and get on Game FAQs without having to exit the game or get on your PC.

is there any reference to this on the ps3 official site. it was said to be announced today or something on gamers day on the forum. is there any proof of this or is it like a leak. we can neither confirm or deny rubbish lol. i hope its true.

i dont think sony will ever bring out an iso loader. cuase it wud be too easier to pirate things.

While this has post has been debunked, the dream of upscaling is coming true with firmware 1.80:

Sony has announced that the latest version of the PlayStation 3 firmware - available to download on May 24 - upscales PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games and DVD movies to full 1080p HD resolution.

Firmware 1.80 also enables users on a home network to use the PS3 to view images, listen to music or play videos, which are stored on their DLNA3 devices (including PCs and laptops) elsewhere in the house.

The PSP’s Remote Play function is also set to be improved thanks to the firmware update and PSP owners can now access their PS3 from anywhere in the world - as long as they have a broadband connection and firmware 3.50 for the PSP, which is available at the end of May.

Finally, firmware 1.80 includes the ability to print photo images stored on PS3’s hard disk drive or inserted storage media to a selection of Epson printers via the USB connection.

Wicked! Now we can read messages that come through to us while we’re in a game… The amount of times I’ve quit a game only to find out that someone is asking me what country I live in.

Not a joke. Lots of people out their with TV’s that support 1080i max but are still HDTV’s and look great. Mine for instance. Games downscale to 480P instead of upscaling to 1080i.

Im not to concerned about games but it really bothers me when i put in a DVD and i have to watch it in 480P and not 1080i.

Video updates disappointing if this is true. We really need DivX. if you can add DivX to a $30 dvd player, it can be added to PS3.

Whoa, that fuking great!!

I really don´t cara anymore about isoloader, since i would have to buy an bigger HD for my ps3, and thinking about image sizes, in an 250gb HD i would barely manage to put 5 games…

Comment by DeViL303

I know what you mean but just so you know you will be able to fit 12-15 games on a 250gb hard drive as they average 10gb to 20gb not 50gb.not to mention maybe possible compression/ripping of music and cutscenes like on psp

Ok so the ISO loader is doa how about a much smaller goal
make the DVD player in the PS3 region free through some hack or something.

And yes count me in for those disappointed that the PS3 still can not upconvert DVD or process DTS-HD MA lossless audio.

2007-05-15 01:13:02

So I’m trying to figure out why my comment wasn’t “approved”. All i said was that there were some key fixes that PS3 needs to focus on

1. DivX playback
2. Fat32
3. need 5.1, not stereo playback on vids
4. SMB / Network Share

1. So for several years we’ve seen DVD players as low as $25 dollars at walmart where you can get DivX playback, yet x360 or PS3 are dragging their feet. you cant tell me it’s a licensing issue, it’s already being done!!!!

2. Fat32 - Okay, it was funny at first Sony, the whole 4 GB limit using a partition technology that’s about 5-8 years outdated (thanks to many many more partitions). Give us more options

3. We’re in the media center era, yet all these players out there always fall short of something great… So why would we want to watch an HD video of our collections with 2 channel stereo? We dont want to burn discs, we want to play our media raw! the future of mediums is no mediums!

4. Network - I personally hate all those half-hack servers out there so many hoops you have to jump through, conversions, etc etc just to find crap on the network… You freakin put Gigabit ethernet on that thing, so let’s use it!!!

Comment by granade
2007-05-15 08:56:39

I feel your pain dude. I tried a couple of those video streamers for the PS3. I stopped using them because if this is supposed to be a media center then we should NOT have to be doing these weak “hacks” just to watch xvid/divx or hear our favorite mp3. Your right on those $25 dvd divx players too. My dvd player costs around $150 but it upconverts and plays almost every single format out their. But my $600 BR player does not…

I waited 6 weeks before upgrading, hoping an ISO loader would come but after seeing all my friends playing online I got jelous and gave in. I must say that upgrading from 1.5 was the best thing I’ve done. You don’t realise how much your missing untill you do it. To all you guys still holding on to 1.5, I have to tell you your wasting your time. Plus do you really think Sony are gonna release HOME without a fresh new update??? Of course not! So you might as well upgrade anyway. IF someone does manage to crack te PS3 firmware, t won’t before a long time and by then we could probably pick up a cheap PS3 for around £150 andmessabout with that

I too feared the upgrade and was holding onto 1.5…. But I love online gaming, whether it be Call of Duty 3 or NBA 2k7… Anyways if the loader does come out it might be just like the PsP… Remember.. 1st Devhook… Which was a loader… 2nd Custom Firmwares… And there might be a possiblity for trick downgrades like the PsP… Im just one of those who payed $$650 U.S dollars for my baby and is not willing to sacrifice online play as well as many other goodies for a loader which is quite frankly light years away……….

They are not going to jump to 2.0 right away, they just leaked 2.0 out there. First will come 1.7, 1.8 etc. (or however many) and the when 2.0 finally comes out it will have these features!
I have a 1080i TV and I watch everything the way it should be, even 720p games, so I don’t understand what some people are complaining about…
