its a distributed computing network, by putting the software on your ps3 it can use space cpu cycles (and eventually gpu cycles maybe?????dm1awnser me on that) that you are not using, without interfearing with what you are doing, to do largely medical research that can help with many diseases such as sickle-cell anemia etc, you are basically contributing electricity that you are already using, keeping them from building another super-computer (and BTW the combined power of folding@home is about twice as powerful as the biggest supercomputer.

i seen 1.7 4 psp. ne way psp games r so short and basic. and boring n graphics r so bad n it hurts my eyes. when i try 2 watch tv after n read i cant. psp was good. now it just gets used as a storage device 4 ps3
50gb thts not right the disk is 50gb space and the game is actually only like the size of a full ps2 game cd cant remem wat format prob cd-r and the rest is quoted “full of so called filler” which is basicly txt files tht dnt do anythin

I support folding@home. My cousin had neuroblastoma (a type of cancer). He is a cancer survivor but it’s a type of cancer that can come back so I’m not taking any chances by not using folding@home. I’m going to download it ASAP.

so im now on 1.70 and i like the online games,plus i batterd the psp with iso’s and got realy board with all the games i got so i think ill just buy games for now and hopefully in a year there will b a ps3 custom firmware that will allow us to play iso’s and go online with them and a lot of very cool homebrew like playing mp3’s while playing games(multitasking).
i think if sony quickly added major usefull updates for the ps3 like multitasking and loads of other stuff then the home developers wouldnt need to hack there console to add there own things to it

I think its time to give up on an ISO loader for the PS3, buy the games and support the developers and game designers. Blu Ray ISO’s will be way to large to download. If one game was around 50gb, there would go my monthly gap.
I for one, am going to by my games which is a change from my Xbox and PSP.

I just registered. Got my PS3 a few days ago and saw this Folding@home application. I think it’s an awesome idea and I have joined however I don’t leave my PS3 on much if I am not using it because I don’t want it to overheat (Problems I had with previous Playstations -mainly ps2). Is there a way to get this to run while playing a game so it runs in the background? Also, if I decide to leave my PS3 on and run this, is there a chance it will overheat or anything? I admit, I haven’t read the manual at all as of yet. I will eventually.. Any help would be appreciated.

dude read sites :P 3 Groupers are working on 3 diffrent iso loaders and they recommend to not update to 1.6 and for folding you’ll need 1.6 ;)
