its a distributed computing network, by putting the software on your ps3 it can use space cpu cycles (and eventually gpu cycles maybe?????dm1awnser me on that) that you are not using, without interfearing with what you are doing, to do largely medical research that can help with many diseases such as sickle-cell anemia etc, you are basically contributing electricity that you are already using, keeping them from building another super-computer (and BTW the combined power of folding@home is about twice as powerful as the biggest supercomputer.

i seen 1.7 4 psp. ne way psp games r so short and basic. and boring n graphics r so bad n it hurts my eyes. when i try 2 watch tv after n read i cant. psp was good. now it just gets used as a storage device 4 ps3

UMDs hold up to 1.8GB memory, and so they nromaly dont make games any bigger than 1.7GB to allow space for the system update to be put on the UMD and stuff.
50gb thts not right the disk is 50gb space and the game is actually only like the size of a full ps2 game cd cant remem wat format prob cd-r and the rest is quoted “full of so called filler” which is basicly txt files tht dnt do anythin

Tard. The physics engine of a modern game can take up a few GB just by itself. You throw in character animation and motions, cutscenes, voices, textures, maps, etc. etc. etc, and you’ll fill up a BD real quick.
A PS2 disc was (capacity-wise) no different than your average mode 1 CD-ROM, 682MB. Much, much smaller than a BD.

Dude, xbox 360 games are dvd-dl and there graphics arn’t as good as ps3 but the downloads for ps3 games from PSN arn’t all that big for some of the fighting games, warhawk was available as a full download.
Games like the new drakes adventure probably is going to use allot of space on the blu ray discs but I think blu ray as compared to HD-wmv is a corporate-government dogma.

On topic, I’m added to the team, and hope to be quite the contributor, as little as I game on my PS3, I should be up near the top of contributions, with it running Folding@Home nearly 24/7, with short breaks to cool off.
A new group to the PS3 iSO release scene IHDC (acronym for “I Honestly Dont Care”) have shared their first release The_Elder_Scrolls_IV_Oblivion_USA_PS3-IHDC today. According to the NFO File, they too are eagerly awaiting a PS3 iSO Loader to arrive!
from memory, it simulates cell division, and they use the results from this to find causes for genetic diseases and mutating disease (ie. cancer). dont quote me on that, im not 100% sure about it. but you can run it on PC too.
I support folding@home. My cousin had neuroblastoma (a type of cancer). He is a cancer survivor but it’s a type of cancer that can come back so I’m not taking any chances by not using folding@home. I’m going to download it ASAP.
i think you’ll find that with a website with a name such as this, you’ll generally find it’s users share a common intrest. go to the gym or something, at least we know something thats worthwhile knowing, but i’ll remember to keep you in mind if i ever need any body building shakes.

i gave up waiting for iso loader…..got pissed off that ps3 gets free online gameplay and 1.50 ps3 cant connect to playstation network.
so im now on 1.70 and i like the online games,plus i batterd the psp with iso’s and got realy board with all the games i got so i think ill just buy games for now and hopefully in a year there will b a ps3 custom firmware that will allow us to play iso’s and go online with them and a lot of very cool homebrew like playing mp3’s while playing games(multitasking).
i think if sony quickly added major usefull updates for the ps3 like multitasking and loads of other stuff then the home developers wouldnt need to hack there console to add there own things to it

I think its time to give up on an ISO loader for the PS3, buy the games and support the developers and game designers. Blu Ray ISO’s will be way to large to download. If one game was around 50gb, there would go my monthly gap.

I just registered. Got my PS3 a few days ago and saw this Folding@home application. I think it’s an awesome idea and I have joined however I don’t leave my PS3 on much if I am not using it because I don’t want it to overheat (Problems I had with previous Playstations -mainly ps2). Is there a way to get this to run while playing a game so it runs in the background? Also, if I decide to leave my PS3 on and run this, is there a chance it will overheat or anything? I admit, I haven’t read the manual at all as of yet. I will eventually.. Any help would be appreciated.
Playing ISO on PS3 isn’t possible…its been done…but it’s not out yet…meaning it won’t be released…well not yet…so for now you gotta deal with buying games…just think bout it…stop this talking shit bout hacking…your waisting your time…go suck on lolypop…for those who’s buying games for 40-60$…keep doing the good deed…sony deserves it…its a high-tech gaming console with alot more to offere…and even more to come…trust me…sony always saves the Best for last…and for the hackers…well what can i say…we like our stuff with a lil more kick to it.
so i could download ps3 iso’s and then burn them on a brd burner and it would load on a regular ps3? or do i need a modded one? it sounds costly for 500 bucks plus brd are like 10 bucks a disc but it is cost effective in the long run. ima go look for the burner now. emulators are already possible cause of linux. its like another operation system is on my ps3 aka computer. and all the emus work like snes, nes, gba, genesis, gamecube, dreamcast, xbox, 360, psp, u name it. we just need a loader and the bluray compressor to come out. and not all game are 8-10 gigs cause heavenly sword is like 16g and lair is 33gb only the crappy games are 8g. anyone know how soon the loader, compressor, and downgraders will come out? cause i need all three. and would loaders work for jap systems? i hope its region free for loaders.

dude read sites :P 3 Groupers are working on 3 diffrent iso loaders and they recommend to not update to 1.6 and for folding you’ll need 1.6 ;)

Alot of us like to learn and explore the heightened potential of our systems.. And possibly learn something. We’re not all cheap. Now if you had any brains you would understand that. I just registered. Got my PS3 a few days ago and saw this Folding@home application. I think it’s an awesome idea and I have joined however I don’t leave my PS3 on much if I am not using it because I don’t want it to overheat (Problems I had with previous Playstations -mainly ps2). Is there a way to get this to run while playing a game so it runs in the background? Also, if I decide to leave my PS3 on and run this, is there a chance it will overheat or anything? I admit, I haven’t read the manual at all as of yet. I will eventually.. Any help would be appreciated.

Playing ISO on PS3 isn’t possible…its been done…but it’s not out yet…meaning it won’t be released…well not yet…so for now you gotta deal with buying games…just think bout it…stop this talking shit bout hacking…your waisting your time…go suck on lolypop…for those who’s buying games for 40-60$…keep doing the good deed…sony deserves it…its a high-tech gaming console with alot more to offere…and even more to come…trust me…sony always saves the Best for last…and for the hackers…well what can i say…we like our stuff with a lil more kick to it.

What’s this about BRDgen being able to burn actual PS3 games? Does anyone know if theres any truth behind this?
You can burn PS3 games, but only with a VERY EXPENSIVE Blu-Ray burner.
so i could download ps3 iso’s and then burn them on a brd burner and it would load on a regular ps3? or do i need a modded one? it sounds costly for 500 bucks plus brd are like 10 bucks a disc but it is cost effective in the long run. ima go look for the burner now. I think an iso loader is possible but maybe in like 6 years from now. and by that time ps4 will come out.

emulators are already possible cause of linux. its like another operation system is on my ps3 aka computer. and all the emus work like snes, nes, gba, genesis, gamecube, dreamcast, xbox, 360, psp, u name it. we just need a loader and the bluray compressor to come out. and not all game are 8-10 gigs cause heavenly sword is like 16g and lair is 33gb only the crappy games are 8g. anyone know how soon the loader, compressor, and downgraders will come out? cause i need all three. and would loaders work for jap systems? i hope its region free for loaders.
