BRDGen v1.00 Released

Posted by greg on February 21, 2007

BRDGen v1.00 has just been released… It is the first Windows app for successfully manipulating PlayStation 3/Blu-Ray compliant disc images.

PS3 BRDGen Screenshot

BRDGen currently features:

  • Create new Blu-Ray (UDF-ISO format, including PS3) images or edit existing ones.
  • Import/Export FileLists: Importing allows you to force LBA positions of files if required.
  • File Relinker: Relink 1 or more files to another file and reduce image size.
  • Extract complete image or selected files/folders.
  • Hexadecimal Sector Viewer: Right-click on any file in a compilation to use it.

It edits the backup (ISO file) of the PS3 games like UMDGen did with PSP ISO’s. You can rip PS3 games to a removable drive and then transfer it to your PC through linux on the PS3.

great but bluray discs are expensive as hell and so is the bluray burner

You don’t need to use a PC to rip the blu-ray disks. You can use linux on the PS3 to rip it to a removable drive, then put it on your PC. As far as playing them, there is an ISO loading in the works, so you won’t need to burn the disks either.

lol I think your mistaken CrashCore, as there is no ISO Loader in devlopement for the Playstation 3. They have all been debunked as rumours and fakes. Check QJ blog if you dont belive me.

I have a friend who’s a fanatic of yakky xbox(old one) and he has a 3rd party firmware on XBMC, where he plays games from the computer’s HD, watches movies from the computer’s HD, OR copies them into the xbox, and the xbmc has a browser, winamp tune-in, ALLLL kinds of stuff, WE NEED SOMETHING like that for the ps3 (not a fan of the 3rd party firmwares) but I certainly don’t want to spend a 1000$CND for a blueray burner, or wait 5 years when its 200$

Well, if it can rip PS3 games I’m sure it would be great to use when an ISO loader comes out. Then just transfer them to the PS3 HD and BAM.. Play em

Ripping PS3 games can be done easily from linux on the PS3.

I don’t know about you people but this piece of info is really useful even if you don’t have a blue ray burner or blank B-disc. You have to think outside of the box if you don’t have enough money to spend. Hopefully if somebody is able to hook up a simple back-up storage via usb for the PS3 to read. Then all we have to do is simply buy an empty SATA storage, hook it up on inside a case and plug it on the ps3. If you think about it all the PS3 games are most likely to be between the limitation of 25 - 18 - or 35 GB for one game. This is because one BL Disc can store capacity of 45 - 50 GB of space. With the sata HD by your side, you can at least store a minimume of 5 games or depending on the HD you have purchased. All then we got to do is play the waiting game for prices to drop for Blank Bl-disc. Besides, BL technology is just a phase of technology that we have all gone through over the years. VHS vs DVD. DVD vs Dul DVD, DVD vs BL and etc… prices will drop eventually.

This is like UMD gen for creating/editing BRD compliant iso’s. I assume if ferrox is real, we’ll be using this soon to load iso’s off the ps3 hdd. damn…dont you ppl own psp’s?

Yeah, people somehow got the impression that this rips PS3 games to the PC. If it did it would be completely worthless because you can do that through linux on the PS3 very easily.
