Update (24-01-07): As anticipated PS3 firmware 1.50 is now available — for both Japanese and North America. You can fetch it via Network Update.
Apparently the Japanese will bear witness to PS3 firmware 1.50 tomorrow. It wouldn’t surprise me if it hits North America as well; same day or shortly after. Here’s what’s new (sorry for the loose translation):
Users
- You can now select an image to use as the User icon from [Photo].
Settings
- [Key Tone] has been added as an option under [Sound Settings].
- [Delete Backup Data] has been added as an option under [System Settings] > [Backup Utility].
- WEP 128, WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA-PSK (AES) have been added as security methods that can be used with [AOSS™] under [Automatic].*
* If you have already set up for AOSS using an earlier version of the system software, you must perform AOSS setup again to use the security methods listed above.
* When [Automatic] is selected, the security method to be used is automatically set.
* AOSS is a trademark of Buffalo, Inc.
Friends
- The method for saving your password / signing in automatically under PLAYSTATION®Network has been changed. There are now two separate options.
Other
- You can now enter text in Korean using the on-screen keyboard.

Frak-Frakistan ,you should update,it fixes alot of possible bugs that can prevent your ps3 from being permanetly damaged either cause of a big or a small bug.UPDATE NOW!!! =)

the PS3 iSO Loader will work on PS3 Firmware up to v1.32,1.5 is confirmed not working
but paradox are still looking in to the issue
They just released 1.50 here in North America. Nothing special at all. I can’t wait for the March firmware release.
Well Im not waiting for no ISO loader…its not worth it “plus” you cant get ps3 ISOs,ITS BLUERAY DISK! Its not as burning just any CD… or is it? 0_0

Yeah. You had to go in and change display settings for it to display properly, before.
But, if you didn’t, it would render it in full HD, which the PS2 games are NOT supported in.
Or, as I’ve heard, anyway.

no it lets u put a pic as ur log in icon. unfortunately still no background i checked.
These updates are getting ridiculous.. I just did mine, and to be honest i have not noticed any changes.. Im still having the same HDMI issues and the menu is intact… Sony is just shitting their pants due to hackability ;)
This update is awesome if you haven’t tried it. Do it and use the internet browser to go to youtube and google video. You’ll know what I mean….

You may not have been aware, nut I was successfully running videos on my ps3 since last year, so this update seems useless to the naked eye.. All they did was fix some graphix issues and obviously they amped up their security against HACKABILITY…..
It fixed the jagged edges and stuff for the PS2 games and stuff but the games are brighter on the PS2 then it is on PS3.
what PS3 ISO loader? what u on about? haven’t heard anything about that.. someone update me!!
