Sony’s PS3 open-platform concept is proving to be pretty cool… rerofumi has released a modified boot cd which when loaded using the “Other OS” boot loader allows you to play the homebrew game, “Lunavader.”
This is accomplished without actually installing Linux on your PS3’s hard disk. You will however have to install the “Other OS” loader and create the corresponding HDD partition. Manual available here.
Once that is complete the rest is straight forward: download the ISO image below, burn it, insert it, and boot the “Other OS.” You will require a USB keyboard connected in order to proceed.
To return back to the PS3 XMB, type “boot-game-os” at the kboot prompt.
i.e.) kboot: boot-game-os <press enter>
Download: Lunavader
Thanks for the tip wraggster.

awesome my ps3 is startin too look good now
could thhis method be used to install other kinds of homebrew and maybe even an iso loader
1st step this, next step iso loader! way to go
is this game any good???….man we need some real hacks…good effort though. ISO’s someday.
Iso talking? you guys know that it will be at least 5 gbs compressed for each game. Plus, where are you gonna get the burner and blu-ray discs. It doens’t seem like a good *investment*.
ISO loading… think about it: “ISO.” That means you don’t have to burn it because you’re playing from an ISO image, which is a file.
we will be able to connect a external HDD and load isos from there or maybe isos will stay at your computer and will be load from a connection between PC-PS3.
yes, now we are getting somewhere :D keep’em coming
good work ! fingers crossed one day even custom firmware !!
hope its cracked when the ps3 is aviable in europe :)
i don“t give a **** how big isos are .. 500mb or 5gb 20gb .. just a matter of time ;p
Awsome progress! Hope this opens doors to an ISO loader via external HDD or SMB :)
It won’t open up anything. All it does, is load linux which loads a small game.

#11 You’re wrong this dosen’t run with linux,this runs via OSLoader…
&Second:
Linux is only for”Small games”
It’s a complete operating system.
thax
sorry i mean it’s not only for small games
I don’t understand why people want to play boot games so badly. I mean seriously, the more you pirate games, the effect on the game makers will be worse. If a big number (say 40%)of PS3 owners can pirate games, why would a big-name game publisher wish to make games? I would buy my games btw.
For you to save 40-60 bucks, you will ruin an entire console for others.
ok one thing boot games u always have backups i know thats what i like to do is back up all my games and keep the originals in a safe place so they dont get ruined its that simple see it from both eyes have alot of lil kids around and disk do get scratched
Thats right..! Keep it coming everyone…This is just the start…Dam, the PS3 has such a bright future ahead of it. Major, props…
this works on all firmwere versions?
all versions exept 1.0
version>=1.10
here is a concept for all based on the pricipal of this yes the iso boot would work but not as we all hope… this concept proves that with a bit of work we can eazly boot home brew off a disk… well what if we were to put a full version of winxp using this (boot loader) and a modified verion of a linux dos emu “boched”. get the mu working install windows to disk boot… and we all got winxp… if it works take said finished disk and make a iso and share with us all… thanks for readin Digital Junky Eror-404
ISOs will just make sony take away the open dev. part of the PS3. So we don’t need them. Why don’t you just buy the games, instead of stealing them. I can understand backing up you games to a harddrive. But most of you people probably are gonna rent or download the games. The psp could have possibly kept homebrew if people weren’t talking about make ISO loaders.
