Just booted up my PS3… To my surprise there is a new firmware update waiting to be installed — v1.11. It affects all systems starting today; as seen here on ign:
If you’re one of those lucky people who actually have a PS3 in their possession, be prepared for a new firmware update that’s going to affect all systems starting today. The update is v1.11 and it features an Account Management System Icon to your friends list. The feature itself was already present in previous firmware versions, but this time they just made it easier to access.
However, there is speculation among PS3 users that the updated fixed something else, since the browser seems to load pages faster, and the actual download itself takes more than a minute to download. We’ve heard of reports of up to 10 minutes for the entire update to fully download, and we experienced a 5 minute wait ourselves. Unfortunately the only documented change was the AMS, so we’ll have to take Sony’s word on it for now.

This happend right before my eyes yesterday… I was upgrading to 1.10 and it failed at 87% and i was soooooooo PISSED and then it said FW 1.11… so I just spent about 1 hour upgrading to 1.11..

You are correct! As I turned on my PS3 last night 11-28-06 I tried to go to the web browser, The PS3 told me that I can not go online until I updated to 1.11. The download was done via wireless internet and took about 15 min to download and then 5 mins to install after the download. I noticed no changes to the interface after the update. I think Sony did something behind the scenes that we are not going to know about yet. I tried to browse the web using the web browser in the PS3, but I keep getting a blank white page on most of the sites I visit. Google and Sony’s site seem to work fine though. I think Sony has allot more work to do on the PS3. I’m not too happy with my PS3. I guess I’m asking for to much. I can’t make any of my digital photos wallpaper on the ps3. My ps3 and psp can’t connect to the wireless router at the same time. When I power off the PSP then the PS3 connects the network fine wireless. I’ll keep you all posted on any question and problems I have on the PS3. I’ll post more videos on the PS3 on my website http://www.themhshow.com
my download for the update took over 1 hour + i got yesterday at like 3:05 and it was done downloading and installing at like 4:37..
thats a long download time. mine took about 20 mins using wireless.
I dont think I have to worry about any of this. Cuz I dont connect to the web on my ps3. And I have wifi.
can you use linix if you update

Sorry for the asking,but where was info about upcoming homebrew (about 4brews) on the PS3? Maybe I missed something
but PS3-Hacks tells nothing and I dont know ither source of info BETTER then this :P
there is no homebrews yet RB is just saying wait for homebrew
i just got my ps3 on friday December 1st at the sony store 60 gig and the firmware is 1.10 is this already an upgrade ? iknow there is 1.11 out
so guys do u think i should wait for a while or buy a jap version now???? any suggestion. I held back 2 months for my psp and got version 1.50 and never regretted it ;)
