I’ve taken the following information from the source above; however, I’ve gone through the liberty of converting the Japan Yen price to USD.
Apparently the PS3 will be priced around the same cost as the original Playstation and Playstation 2 at their launch, ~ $380. This is fantastic news considering the power behind the PS3.
“Now, a report over at Impress PC Watch is indicating that Sony Computer Entertainment has cited a price point of less than $380 for the PS3 launch in conversations with its business partners.”
I think were gonna be looking more at something like $300. The PSP was gonna be $300 originally, but became $250. And since The sales of PSP were’nt as high as they should have been mostly for the reason of its high cost, I’m sure Sony will make the price low enough so that people dont have to be convinced by “You know its worth it.” from their freinds. Either way, In one year, we saw the price or PS2 fall down by $100. So I’m pretty sure if it is 380 at release, u can hold out about a month and it will be $300.
If we keep seeing prices jump higher for systems like this, in about 10 yaers were gonna be looking at systems that cost $550!! And those shits better be some crazy virtual world or something! Anyway, I can safely say the PS3 P{RBABLY wontbe any higher than $350

i hope this new ps3 is some where near $300 or less. i been hearing its round $500. no 1 in my skool is gonna buy a $500 system, many people wounld rather get a computer than a video game system. if it is gonna cost lyk more than a psp, i hope this new ps3 could do a lot of cool and new thing than a ps2 or psp.
of course it going to be more than a ps3 its a full on games console not a crappy little thing you hold in your hands. And you also got to remember it will be some time from now when it is released and by then we will have new technologies and the cost of the older back dated ones (that will be used) is going to be less.
I’d have to agree with #1 ’s comment. Sony really is a good market advertiser,especially during the launch of the original Xbox. SONY reacted by lowering their price as well. I also think that allowing people to add their own HD is awesome, with so many affordable alternatives out there .I think the price will be AT LEAST 250. And, I think, they will sell the add ons at an additional price, like they did with the remotes,HDDs,and so on. In the end, I’ll still be a SONY fan ;):D

Idk dude, but it has frikken 25g of ram holy shi’it thats like so frikken much…….my badass computer only has 512mb of ram and it has 25g thats like a shi’it load……im defently buyin this monster….

i think SONY would get @ least 5X more sales if this “incredible machine” is marketed @ a lower price than the launched price of the
Xbox360(coresystem).
Adventually i will get a PS3 butt, untill it`s released and all the BUGS are sorted out i think i can wait.

It won’t be 500. it will not release higher than 400 i think because if it does it will lose sales to the “suckbox 180″ as i call it not saying it was bad but Ps3 will own it.
Well i’m more of an xbox 360 fan(just got mine) but this PS3 is looking preaty badass, im wondering if sony is gonna take the same marketing approach as microsoft,you no,a core and a premium, but i think a reasonable price for a PS3 would be no more than $420
I read somewhere that cnn predicted the price around 550 bucks, but I sure hope they aren’t right. More like 350-450 is reasonable I think.

no one knows how much the damd thing will actually cost untill sony releases the figures so just wait a few weekes and be patient
sonyy doesnt have to pay 500 dollars for those grafic cards, only the public does
whoever left comment #1 is insane saying that it will definitly not cost more than $350. this system is costing sony between $700-$900 to make per system. cnn’s merrill lynch has estimated the price to be $494. i personaly think that it will be no higher than $399 so they can compet with microsoft.
